Others ppl thoughts

I was wondering what ppl think of being induced. At first i saw it was something i wanted but now, im second guessing. I heard alot of ppl are not fond of them. My fisrt baby came naturally, but i have a different doctor who might want to induce me. Im 38 weeks and 1 day.

The reason induction births take longer is because you are trying to force your body to do something it is not ready to do. A good film to watch is Business of Being Born. It talks directly about inductions. Good info. But no, I think inductions are terrible unless actually necessary, and not meaning your due date has come and gone or is quick approaching with no 'signs' of progression. Some women never dilate or efface until they are actually in labor. Even so, neither one will tell you anything about when labor will come or how quickly your labor will go.

I was induced with my first and my second came on his own and I will say being induced from my experience the contractions are much more intense and it did take a little longer I was in labor 17 hrs as to with my 2nd I was only 6 hrs and contractions didn't get so bad up until I was 7 cm dilated but everyone has different pain tolerance levels but I'd suggest waiting and not getting induced which I'm doing now even though my dr suggested it being I'm 39 wks but I'd rather my little one come on her own when shes ready

I agree with the woman above me. I will not be induced with my son this time, but I was with my daughter and didn't realize how unnecessary it was until AFTERWARDS. My doctor will induce me at 42 weeks if he doesn't come by then but I feel like he will, I am only 38 weeks 4 days.

I personally don't agree with induction UNLESS medically deemed.
If bub hasn't come before induction is scheduled, it is obviously not ready to come. I've heard and seen first hand the difference between a natural (not induced) and an induced labour and an induced labour appears to take longer and be more intense.
A lot of women want to get induced at 40 weeks because that's their due date but what they forget to remember is that the first two weeks of their pregnancy, they weren't actually pregnant, therefore at 40 weeks of pregnancy is only 38 weeks gestation. Hence why most medical professionals will allow non complicated and healthy pregnancies go 10-14 days "overdue" because even 14 days "overdue" bub is only technically 40 weeks gestation.
I don't have anything against women who get induced early, I would just never consider it for myself unless mine or bubs health/life was going to be affected by not delivering early.
