High BMI

Hi. My baby is due approx 12-14th July so im around 8 1/2 weeks pregnant and i have a BMI of 38. This is really concerning to me due to the complications that could come with it. This year i managed to lose 2 stone on my own so was doing well and then got pregnant. We are over the moon about this after 17 months of trying but i really want to do whatever i can to stay healthy for me and the baby and hopefully avoid any bad cravings. I spoke to my midwife about it during my first appointment and she was really helpful. Is anyone else in my position?

I have gained about 4lbs so far but when i saw a doctor at the hospital after my scan she was really reassuring and told me about the extra scans i get and stuff so at least i know i will be getting extra care for me and baby :) doc said to me to aim to maintain my weight because then providing the baby is doing ok i will have a chance of losing fat at the same time as the baby will get all the nutrients it needs if im eating enough calories x

I've actually lost weight since I found out I was pregnant.  I also saw the amount of calories you should eat and don't think I can eat that much! I hopefully won't gain any weight but we will see,  I'm only 13 weeks.

unfortunately my BMI is at 830 9. I had weight loss surgery 2 years ago, lost 50 pounds, and then gained it back. This pregnancy was a surprise and my boyfriend and I are thrilled but I am nervous about my weight. Its not like we can use the weight now lol the best we can do is to be healthy during all pregnancies. My doctor told me that I shouldn't game any more than 11 to 20 pounds during the pregnancy. That won't be a problem I don't think because I can't seem to eat anything at the moment. How are you feeling?

I dnt think that 25 lb weight gain is necessary from the research I've done. I kept my weight gain to 10 pounds last pregnancy and had a healthy 8 lb 9 oz baby. I hope to be the same this time.  Just do what's best for you though.

I'm also in the same position. I'm overweight and lost 10 lbs before I found out about this pregnancy. I'm 6 weeks (due July 29th) hopefully I don't gain too much. I really want to stay on the lower end of the recommended 25 lbs.

I'm due around the 10-13 of July! I am also overweight and don't want to gain any more than necessary for the baby! My midwife said I needed approx 2500 calories/ day and that even at my weight a gain of 25 pounds (I don't know how that translates to stone, sorry) should be expected. I'm trying to focus on nutrient dense foods (when I feel like eating!) And am trying to walk a bit every day. She also gave me a list of exercises and stretches that I can do which I plan on incorporating as well. I say don't worry about it too much right now and get back on track after baby comes.  :)
