Progesterone for external use in first trimester

hi ladies,

I just found out that I am pregnant and today was my first visit to the doctor. I have been having low abdominal cramps on and off everyday.. I am 5 weeks now.. doctor has given me SUSTEN 200 to be used vaginally , once a day for the first trimester..
Is there any risk in using this?

I too am on progesterone, but I need 400mg per night (vaginally too).  I don't think it's bad, it can help your baby to stay alive inside you.  My best friend was put on progesterone for her 2 pregnancy and her first daughter is perfect and her second daughter...well I don't know, she just had her this morning.  So if I were you, I would not worry about that progesterone in you first trimester!

Good luck!

hello there. I wouldn't think there is any risk in using progesterone. I am also using it until week 16. My doctor prescribe to me because of my history of previous miscarriages. She told me that help to keep the cervix close and also help the pregnancy. Progesterone is something that the body produce itself during pregnancy so it can't be bad. The best of luck for you
