for a woman that is within normal weight to begin with you are doing ok. they say 3-4 lbs the first trimester then about a lb a week in the second tri. what is most important to make sure you are eating healthy and keeping the sweets and fatty foods at a minimum. whether you are concerned about weight loss after the baby or not, the important issue is gaining too much can lead to problems with pg or delivery.
overweight women dont need to gain much. its more of a 15-20lb gain. these days they go by your bmi, maybe your ob discussed that with you? i plan on gaining 25-27 lbs and at 22 weeks im at 13.
you have to remember too, we all retain water differently, that can make us gain like 5lbs easy! dont compare yourself to another, it will just irritate you lol. congrats!
I think that 14 is on the high end. The baby only weighs with placenta and fluid around a lb by 15 weeks. But you are still OK! It is like 8-14lbs by the six month mark.
I am over weight so I have been watching well trying too. I did good the first 15 weeks with like 2lbs. I am now 20 weeks and have gained 6 well I think 5 casue I wore heavy clothes and shoes for the first time at my appointment.
Just try to eat lots of fruits and veggies and watch the empty carbs and pastas and breads. You will be fine throughout if you do that.
