So now I know why I avoid sleeping on my back..... I get leg cramps!! Last night I woke up on my back, but I woke up because I was having very bad leg cramps. This was the first time I've gotten it during this pregnancy.  Everytime I would turn to my back, after a while I got those nasty cramps!!! Ugh, I'm so ready to have this baby!!

It's the vena cava...as we get bigger the baby puts pressure on the inferior vena cava, which is located behind the uterus and supplies our heart, whenever we lay on our back. It cuts off blood flow to us, so could potentially make us dizzy or even pass out (my OB's said she's seen it happen), and therefore isn't good for the baby. I have a hard time laying on my back anyways, I feel out off breath like the baby's crushing my lungs.

I wake up every morning laying on my back :) My doctor said you would move yourself into a diff position before doing any damage. Its cause bub can put too much pressure on the sciatic nerve.

I have heard that sleeping on your back slows the blood flow to your baby and to your heart. I don't sleep on my back. It's not only because of the blood flow, but it's uncomfortable for me. You should talk to your doctor, but as Babyiish mentioned, try sleeping on your left side or elevate your back if you do sleep on it!!

The dr recommends to sleep on your left side...but I heard that you could sleep on your back as long as your don't lay flat on the bed..try to elevate
Your back a little with pillows ..
What does your dr say ...have you ask your dr?
