Lol.... I love all those things too. Donuts are my favorite, but I try to avoid them.
Hey you'll be fine ....
I did the 3hr tolerance test with my first , second and third pregnancy...
Happy to say.... I pass all three...
I love chocolate, donuts and all that good stuff... Lol :)
So I didn't pass the 1 hour so now I have to go in for the 3 hour. Gosh, it's going to be hell, sitting and waiting for three hours. The doctor said the levels were a little elevated so he wanted to do the 3 hour to be on the safe side. I just hope it comes back normal.
Me too had that test Tuesday. Drank this nasty drink and went an hour after to have my blood drawn. Its normal testing
Have they said anything about you having sugar in your urine that maybe is prompting them to test a little more in depth? The only time I had blood drawn before the drink was the 3 hour test after I failed the 1 hour test. I did pass the 3 hour though. It was just a pain in the you know what.
I have my appointment on the 2nd of April. I will ask why. The lady who drew the blood said it was different from all the others she had done. She didn't know why they would want a "Fasting Blood Sugar" test and then a "Glucose Tolerance Test". That kind of concerned me. I just hope everything is ok. Thanks everyone for the info :)
I don't know what the difference in the tests are, between fasting and not fasting. With my first pregnancy I didn't have to fast, but with my second and this one I was told to fast. I feel much worse after the fasting test because all I am getting is that sugar.
i just had that done today as well. i went in, drank a nasty sugary orange gatorade type drink (yukkk!!) and got a TON (like 7!) of blood tube-y thingys drawn after one hour. like above posters said, its completely normal and most pregnant women get it for gestational diabetes testing. if i fail the one hour test, then i have to go for a three hour fasting test, pretty much the same as the first test i took today but a little longer and no eating beforehand. i have a really cool doctor that explained all this to me as this is my first baby and had no clue why this was necessary.
It sounds like the regular (1 hour) glucose test, though I only got poked once, an hour after the drink. As far as I know, it's pretty routine in pregnancy these days, they're just making sure you don't have gestational diabetes.
When I went for my 3hr test
I was fasting ....
I also got poked right when I went in ... :)
At 8:15 am/The juice right after
Waited 1hr/9:15 draw blood/ 10:15 blood/And once again
For my 1hr test/Went in at 8:30
Drank the juice/Waited 1hr
And draw blood at 9:30
Maybe you could call or email your dr ...ask him why?
Dont worry...do you have a new dr.?
I do and I'm always questioning everything he does.......just to make sure...he probably thinks I'm a little annoying lol...but he does everything different than my ex OB/GYN... X
