Sick :(

Been feeling like something was coming on for days now, but woke up early this morning with a definitely upper respiratory infection-type thing, including a deep chest cough and a lot of congestion in my chest. I just started my 12th week so I'm not comfortable taking antibiotics or most of the normal over-the-counter meds I use to treat these normally.  Any magic solutions from those of you who have been through this before?

Luckily it doesn't seem to be affecting my asthma yet, just a normal cold/upper respiratory infection kind of thing, and no fever yet...if it gets worse I'm definitely gonna go find my OB or the ER.

Thanks for the advice. So far still no fever, and hoping that will hold. :)

I always used the humidifier and rubbed my chest in really well with vicks rub.  We can use that.  Green tea with some honey, and breath in all the steam.  That's all I've got.  Wish I could offer some magic cure.

If you end up with a fever, even low grade, call right away.  I was very sick with a flu like illness at 6 weeks and I had an ear infection that wasn't going away.  I was on augmentin for 10 days.  There are antibiotics that have been used commonly in pregnancy with no effect ever seen.  The big downside is pregnant women are more prone to yeast infections and the antibiotics are almost a guarantee of one.  I had to take zithromax at the beginning of my pregnancy wit my 2 year old as well, and she is fine.  We get very sick very fast during pregnancy, I'm sure you've heard...and Dr.s won't prescribe anything they feel we don't really need.
