I agree with babybump007. Your body tells you what it needs, from the natural sense. It's our job to translate: salty means water, sugary means fresh natural fruit. There are many more, just Google them. Our bodies are designed to tell us what it needs. It's a great way for balance control too. I gained close to 60 pounds with my first, 40 with my second. I have 3 months left, and I've only gained 22 so far. That's great for me, by substituting salty cravings for water, and sweets for fresh fruit. Now, I just have to work in more veggies and I'll be all set, lol.
Thanks ...i do try to eat my veggies lol ..i ll try to drink more water too
this is my second pregnancy, i'm 26w3d. like my first pregnancy, i tend to crave for all the junk and i feel guilty about stuffing myself. just today, i had an ice cream cone and about an hour ago, i had a bowl of ice cream. now i'm just drinking ice water to trick my body in thinking i'm full. both pregnancies, i crave for more sweets than salty food.
I think as long as you are eating healthy meals in addition to your cravings then it is fine. They say that you crave what your body needs, but it is hard to believe that your body needs all that salt and sugar! From my experience, I found that I crave salt when I really need more water, since salt helps retain water if your body is low. I also crave sugar when my body needs more natural sugar such as fruits. But as long as you get all of the vitamins and nutrients you need each day, I would not worry about eating lots of salt and sugar. :-)
