I live in NYC & I gave birth to my daughter in 2009 vaginal birth I stayed in the hospital for 3 days .... It's no way your going home within 24 hours ... You should stay in the hospital at least 3 days ...
Also, if you are a ftm, they want to make sure you know what to do with your baby ie nursing, diapering, jaundice, etc.
I know in Philadelphia PA, it is 3 days for vaginal birth and 3-4 days c section
^ I actually couldn't Stand being in the hospital when I had my daughter the nurses were unhelpful and annoying to me. I guess everyone has different experiences.
Having had a baby before I just find it crazy wanting to leave the same day. You will be so exhausted and the nurses are such a big help when it comes to breast feeding etc. My best friend left early and she regretted it. She had several problems and had to go back a couple of times
The private system in Australia u stay 5 days, 6 if cesarean, public hospitals depends how many kids you have had and how busy they are, sometimes overnight or more sometimes a few hours!
If you have a straightforward vaginal birth, you and your baby could be at home within hours. If you have a caesarean, you can normally expect to stay in hospital for three days to four days. A longer stay is only necessary if you, or your baby, are unwell.
Usually blood work has to be done on baby before you can leave hospital, in Canada. And it has to be done after 24 hours has passed.
If all goes well I will leave the hospital within 24 hours
It depends on the physician even in a hospital you can go home early. If you leave AMA (against medical advice) that's when you may or may not run into issues with them paying
In the hospital they keep you and baby a minimum of 24 hours for a vaginal birth. Most insurances won't pay for anything less. In a birthing center they usually release you after 4 hours.
