Anyone else trying to lose weight??

So I know you're not suppose to "diet."  But I'm trying to eat healthier smaller meals, cut out the sugary drinks, more water, lots more vegetables, etc. And I'm working out more as well. So I hope to lose some weight. I think this is OK, does anyone disagree? My BMI is 30 which is high. I'm thinking a 15 lb weight loss would do us both good. I'm 5wks. Anyone else trying to drop some pounds?

Eating healthy and as if you have GD will help you! My sister had GD and she didn't gain weight, because she was losing weight because she was eating healthier than normal. So she lost weight but gained baby weight so everyone was healthy!

To my knowledge people who do have a higg bmi are encouraged to stick to a diet or see a dietician or attend a weight loss class. I have a high bmi and within the paper work i received from my gp there where losts of things about weight and how i would be helped throughout my pregnancy.

Everything I have read says this is not the time to lose weight. You can be healthy and maintain for a while, but even if you are over weight you should gain at least 15 lbs over your pregnancy. After the baby is when you can concentrate on losing. I would talk to your dr about a healthy pregnancy diet and what their suggestions are for weight gain for you.

I was losing weight before I found out I was pregnant.  I am not really trying to lose now but I am trying to maintain and only gain what I need.  My doctor said a 15 lb gain is healthy for me.  I'm hoping to try to stick to this.

I have made the same changes. I'm not trying to lose weight, just making lifestyle changes now to hopefully delay gestational diabetes (had it in previous pregnancies). Losing weight would be a plus but I'm just really hoping to not develop GD at all or until very late in my pregnancy *fingers crossed*
