Don't feel bad!! And stand your ground if that's really how you feel. It's your right to want new things for your first child. I was the same way. It's not a matter of being proud or stuck up. I had no problem with second hand stuff but when it came to my FIRST baby I wanted to revel in the experience of being able to provide nice things for my child. It's my right to want to do so. I agree it's a good idea to have an extra for another car or the grandparents, especially if it's free! But if it's old it may have expired anyway. Never accept expired or worn out baby products especially car seats and strollers. If you do take second hand things make sure you know first hand if there was damage to them because of accidents. Don't just go off of hearsay.

Can you not donate the expired car seats anywhere?  I dont mean for use with a child at all but i know our small town will take some at local highschools for parenting classes and health units for prenatal classes as teaching aids.  I think even the fire departments take them for demonstrations of vehicle rescues. Hate to see them going to the dump Is all!

Ya I was going to ask if it was up to regulations . I was giving a used car seat and I just took it said thanks and checked the date it too is out of date so I am going to cut the straps and take to the dump. It was a nice gesture tho some things you just want new I totally understand.

I agree with RayDayle, you could definitely use the extra items for a weekend at grandma's. Not a bad idea. It's okay to want new things but sometimes just being reasonable is the best financial move for you and your family.

I feel ya but it may come in use .. extra car seat for grandparents or extra play pen for traveling throw it in the back of the car so you always have it. I'm still buying the car seat I want and asked people not to buy me one(unless its the one) because I will it take back because I want the number one car seat for travel
