mom not happy with middle name

So, I'm naming my baby after my mom's maiden name (as her middle name) and she's always asking "so are you still sticking with that name?" She says she had such a hard time growing up with that last name and she hates that the child may get picked on for it. I feel like I'm honoring my ancestors and was proud to give her this name. Should I reconsider? Or should I not let my mom's insecurities effect my choice?

Thanks for responding ladies! I do think my mom is just insecure. My aunts, uncles and cousins all have zero complaints about their last name. I am not into ask the girly "pretty" names. I want a name that will look great on a resume or the big screen (whichever road she chooses to take). And I am 30 years old and the only people who include my middle name when they address me are my daddy's sisters (my middle name is the feminine version of their brother who died when they were teens). Other than that, I have friends who I've known for 15 years who still have to ask what my middle name is! Anyway, rant over I guess! Plus I got my first monogrammed gift today so... No turning back now, lol!

My mom used her maiden name as my and my sisters middle names so we all have the same one. When I was little I always thought it was weird but I grew to appreciate it. I didn't change my name when I got married, but we will be giving our little girl my maiden name (last name) as her middle name. It's not a name you would use for a first name but I really like the idea of passing it on.  If you like the idea don't let mom sway you.

What's the name?? And as a middle name i wouldn't think it would be as well known by kids in school to be picked on about it, they usually aren't publicized like first and last names, if it really bothers her maybe reconsider but if it's just because she doesn't care for the name I say go ahead and use it
