High blood pressure?

Has anyone experienced high blood pressure in a previous pregnancy or are experiencing it now? What did your doctor do about it? I went to an appointment yesterday and they took my blood pressure and it was 135. They said if it gets to 140 they'll start to worry. Can someone tell me what will happen if it reaches 140? They didn't tell me anything.

They'll most likely put you on bed rest, I had very high blood pressure (avg about 165/95) with my first, so high that if I didn't have a sonogram before my Dr appt she would send me to hospital for a NST (non-stress test) afterwards. I didn't have any symptoms though, no blurred vision, headache, swelling nothing at all. Just take things easy and don't over work your self, and just listen to your body, it will be ok!

With my first child I hit 32 weeks and my blood pressure was 150/95 and they kept a close eye on it.. at my 3r week appointment my BP was 205/195 and they sent me to the hospital right away and there I was induced.. they were freaking out etc. I also had busted blood vessels in my face way before I even started pushing.. they almost did a c-section if he wouldn't have came within the hour they wanted him to.. but he did and after I had him it was like the high blood pressure was gone.. crazy but was Def scary at the time bc the nurse was talking crazy saying if he doesn't come within the next hour both mother and baby could die etc. Quite crazy but Def do whatever it takes to keep your BP down.

I had high blood pressure last pregnancy along with other symptoms (swelling in hands and feet, headaches, protein in urine) which is preeclampsia. I've had high blood pressure again with this pregnancy usually 150/90 and my midwife is currently monitoring it closely as well as other symptoms (trace protein in urine, headaches, stars in vision, swelling) as it looks like I'll have preeclampsia again. I'm not on bed rest at the moment but noticed over the last 3 weeks I can't do what I normally have been. I'm 32 weeks. I believe I was put on bed rest or told to take it easy at 37 weeks last time!

Thanks for telling me your stories guys. Really hope my blood pressure stays where it is. I'm only 30 weeks and want to keep him in there as long as possible. Not going to stress over it. I'm sure stress will make it worse. My next appointment is at 32 weeks so hopefully all will be good by then. And as for noticing that you can't do what you've normally been doing, that's happened to me. I can't do much any more without exhausting myself and if I push myself too hard I get pains in my stomach.

Yeah I would get a very sore stomach if I overdid it but can't get to that stage anymore my body is slowing down haha. If you notice any of those other symptoms let your midwife/doc/gyn know (not sure what you have!) I've also got right side pain which is above my uterus and my midwife is watching this closely too anymore that's your liver and a drop in liver function is related to preeclampsia

I have hypertension I take blood pressure meds to keep it under control it's still high from time to time but no signs of pre-eclampsia as of yet. They monitor me and baby very closely. I get ultrasounds every 4 weeks and at 34 weeks I will be getting bpp's and nst's once a week.

I had high blood pressure in my last pregnancy. It just happened one day when I went to my 31 week appointment. I was taken to labor & delivery & given an emergency c section two days later.
