Info for inducing labour :)

Just seen my midwife and for a change she actually gave me some good advice. I am 38 weeks today and babys head is fully engaged. Baby can't move down any further now until I go into labour. So she gave me a list of things to try and things not to try. She said...

Walking is good to persuade the baby to push down but not to much walking because you can tire your body out which actually stops labour.

Spicy food is good to eat as it tricks your body into thinking you are having contractions to actually set off contractions.

Sex and lots of it. The sperm has the same hormone in it as the medication they use to induce you and it softens your cervix. Its completely safe and gives you quality time with your partner. If you go to have sex make sure its more than just once to really get things moving.

She said do not use the castor oil trick as it can really upset your stomach and make you really sick. This is the only things she says really has worked but doesnt work for everyone.

Good luck ladies xx

I had heard it takes approximately 6 lots of intercourse.  We found it best every few days that way your body can still do the natural ting a bit easier.  Rest when u can and listen to ur body. :-) all the best

Tryed all 3 yesterday. Ended up with contractions last night. 10 minutes apart for 20 - 30 seconds. Then dropped to 7 minutes apart. Lasted 3 hours and then faded. I might not be in full labour yet but at least its a start :) very achy today from contractions tho. Had a few tightenings so far but nothing else. Hopefully baby is on the way. Good luck everyone :) x

If ur comfortable sex worked for us this time other 2 times couldn't stand hubby being that close. Sleep on your side with your hips as widespread as you can use pillows. It helps open the pelvis for baby to descend. All the best.
