You can hand express instead, colostrum is too thick for a pump and can cause swelling and other issues. I think you'd need to do it loads to induce yourself though! I've been hand expressing for a couple of weeks now to store colostrum and I haven't felt any contractions.
A lot of things I've read said not to pump before baby. It even has it in the pamphlet of the breast pump. At least in mine it did, I have a medala.
You shouldn't pump. Google it.
Now im going to try the pump!
Yeah... I pumped 15 min each breast. Mild contractions, but they went away quickly. Ugh! I have a sweep scheduled Thursday. Guess I'll wait it out until then...
You get them right away min3 lasted for an hr and then disappeared
Willzmom please give me an update if it works....
Going to try pumping today. I'm anxious and I HATE that feeling. I'm just ready to move on to the next phase. How soon did contractions start for those who tried nipple stimulation?
Try using a breast pump whether u have milk commimg out or not
I've never had good results with any of the tricks :( been 40+4, 40+4 and 40+6 before delivery. Was induced first time (which didn't go too well for us) and the other 2 popped out within 24 hours of a sweep. My midwife has booked me in for a sweep at 40+1 this time (i think she realises that's what it takes for me)
Are you going to have sweeps done first? If it's not been mentioned, I would ask for that. A natural labour is much nicer than an induced one and I can understand why you would like one this time. Is there a reason for the induction? Or will you be overdue? If there's not a good reason, I would be telling them it ain't happening.
Don't be disappointed if it has to be that way though, getting baby out safely is the most important thing, best of luck to you :)
