Robitussin for cough while pregnant?

Have any of you mommies taken robitussin while pregnant i have a really bad cough ..my doctor said its fine but will it do any harm to my baby?

Robitussin DM is ok to take. Nothing that will make you drowsy.

I take it but only at night. My doctor suggested it.

I take it all the time bc I've been feeling crappy. I trust it's ok.

I did the Vicks on bottoms of feet for my coughs too, but it didn't cut it for me. I ended up taking Robitussin AC (with codeine). Robitussin is safe, codeine will slow down fetal heart rate. But it's temporary. You have to weight the benefits against the risks. For me, my cough was causing my placenta to tear more (I have pre-existing subchorionic hematoma, the cough was so bad and made me bleed a lot more). If I don't get the cough under control, I could end up with placenta abruption.

I took robotussin and im very cautious on whats safe and what isnt. I was told it was completely safe for the 2nd trimester but i have heard other women take it while in all stages of pregnancy except the last few weeks.

I was told it was ok but still to worried to do it. I put vicks vapor tub on my feet with socks and was able to sleep for a few hours at a time.
