Stupid Headache...

What are you ladies doing about these pesky headaches? It's a constant dull ache that just won't ever really subside. Caffein helps a bit, but I don't really want to start drinking coffee all day! I'm 13 weeks + 3 today.

@ladyhawk83, thanks! To make the matter worse, now I have to take care of DD who's got the flu with a high fever of 102 degree. I don't know if I should laugh or cry for having a puke buddy... :(  I haven't got my flu shot yet. Even if the migraine cannot stop, at least don't let me get the flu (I was already running a low fever today which made the ER doctor think I had meningitis). What a holiday!

I'm just back from ER. I was given 2000 ml NS. Although I didn't feel so and wasn't vomiting too much, the ER doc said I was definitely very dehydrated. One other thing we tried was IV magnesium sulfate (class A, absolutely safe for pregnancy). 50% women had success, but unfortunately it didn't work for me. I eventually agreed to  0.5mg morphine via IV push. Got some instant relief, now 2.5 hours later, the pain is back again.... But maybe the magnesium sulfate will work for you gals. Best wishes! Merry Christmas!

Try claritin. Your  sinuses  could be filled causing pressure/pain. Thats what my Dr said if all else fails. AND YES  ITS SAFE TO TAKE

@frankengirl, thanks! Your reply gave me hope. I was doubtful when my OB said they usually go away by week 18. I'm glad your headaches are resolving. It is a hormone thing, plus the holiday stress, I guess.

I'm in day 5 of a status migrainosus. I used to get menstrual migraines which responded well to Maxalt. Now that I'm 14 weeks pregnant, I can only take Tylenol which didn't help much. I tried Norco a couple times. That made me sick and dizzy. I dragged myself out for a chiropractic adjustment and bodywork today. I could barely walk when I went in, and I walked myself out after two hours treatment. Now 7-hour post-treatment, the pain level is creeping up again. My OB's clinic basically told me that, at this point, I need to go to the ER. But I hate the cocktail aggressive ER docs give. I'm trying to get an urgent referral to a neuro or pain clinic for a trigger point injection. It is local and much safer than IV treatments. My OB said the headaches tend to go away after week 18, but she didn't tell me it could be this bad. I seriously think I could die by week 18 if my doctors cannot find a good solution to abort my status migrainosus.

Lots of water. You are also in the weeks where it is safe for you to take Motrin. If that doesn't help maybe rootbeer or dark chocolate I heard helps, or even just good old fashion Coke (that's what got rid of my last headache & I am just days behind you).

Yea like previous poster said everyone tells ya to drink more water. But I've really upped my water intake because I was having that horrible dull pain everyday and man I feel so much better! I eat small meals every 2 hrs too and when I don't I notice the headache starts to come around

Also, try drinking more water throughout the day. I know everyone treats it like it's the answer to everything but it really does help to drink lots of water during the day.

16+1 I get really bad headaches although they have started to dull out this last week, anyways, what helps me is eating a small snack and then laying down in a dark room with a movie on with the volume low, helps me fall asleep and that typically works. If not, some coffee or a cup of Dr Pepper sometimes makes it better. Tylenol stopped working on me when I was 13 so either way I have to just try to relax and ride it out.
I hope that helps!
