To buy or not to buy?

i'll be 23 weeks tomorrow, FTM. Baby's room is not quite set up, but I got playpen with bassinet and very very very few clothes, some wipes and a swing. Thought my baby shower would be in April (at 7months) but yesterday hubby said it would be his busiest work time so it should be in May. I'm ok with that but our closest friends will be way for the first 2 weeks of May so it would have to be the third weekend at the very earliest. I'll be literally almost done with my 8th month by then. I have been planning not to buy things until baby shower so that a) I can get only what people didn't get me that I still need, and b)so I can get stuff in registry that people didn't buy at a discount. Plus wanted to be done planning and buying stuff by end of April when I am still energetic and not so big so I can prepare with no worries. Now I'm stuck with this stupid question should I just buy and whatever I get later that I already have... I return? (Kinda feel like it's cheating people when u leave something on your registry that you already have) ...what do u mamas think?

I'm 23 weeks and haven't bought anything yet lol I'm waiting until after my shower, which is in mid April to buy the rest of what I need.

I wouldn't leave the baby shower too late. My son came a month early on the morning I was supposed to have mine...

I wouldn't. It will be just as difficult going back to the stores to return items than waiting and than getting what you need. My husband didn't go to my baby shower either though so that wasn't a problem or anything. If your husband doesn't have to be there I would stick with April. End of May is pretty close.

I'd buy more only necessities like onesies, socks, a hat, have a few blankets or swaddled cloths, washcloths/baby towel and a couple packs of diapers at least then if the baby comes early you won't be frantic. Then you might be doing laundry often for the first bit til your shower because if you're having a big shower you'll get lots more gadgety stuff, clothes and hopefully gift cards! I'd find it a hassle to have to return stuff

I am having a shower in late march and one in april.  I dont want to wait too long before getting the basics.  Ftm as well.
