UK ladies

How long do they leave you over due before they book you in for a sweep or to be induced?

It can come out of the blue, so don't be disheartened by a lack of symptoms. After my sweeps I felt nothing and was woken in the night in full on labour. Other than lots of braxton hicks in the weeks before, I didn't notice a thing.

You've still got 5 days till your due, don't be disheartened it really could be any day now. Do the things you won't be able to after babys born (treat yourself to a manicure or visit the hairdresser etc). Before you know it baby will be with you.

I'm getting a sweep at 40+1, but I think that's mostly because my last 2 were born within 24 hrs of a sweep. She made me wait till 40+5 last time. Your midwife should certainly be open to discussing and booking a sweep from 40+

I'm 3 days overdue and getting a sweep tomorrow. Midwife says if that doesn't work they'll induce at 10 days overdue. I am really hoping the sweep works as I'm getting sooo sick of being pregnant

I'm the UK they won't induce you till after 41 weeks if there isn't a medical reason, usually they date of induction will be closer to 42 weeks.

I think it differs from hospital to hospital..
Here in Dublin the 3 maternity hospitals all have different lengths.. The one i go to have 10 days. I think the longest is 2 weeks, but call your hospital and ask is probably best..
