glucose test curiosity
Who has taken the glucose test already? Did you pass or fail? I've seen a lot of fails and now they have to do the 3 hour test. Wondering if there is a coralation between if the doctor instructed you to fast or not, I know some do and some don't.
My doctor said he was only sending me because diabetes ran in my family . otherwise he wouldn't have kinda interesting I'd rather it just be done anyways all my tests have been good.
My lab usually calls if any problem no phone calls yet and I had mine Monday. I was told I didn't have to fast but I also had went to my regular appointment with doctor in the morning and hadnt eatten anythjng and then was sent to do that same day. Our lab is in the same location as doctors so I went right away instead of coming another day because I had the time. I only had to do a one hour test.
I passed with flying colors...something around 90 and had eggs and home fries right before the test. I think if you have sugar beforehand it could affect the test.
Passed my first 1 hour with 118 and I have to take another one at my next appointment because they want to monitor me
If you fail the 1 hour test they will give you the 3 hour test if you fail that test they will diagnose you with gestational diabetes. One of the things that comes along with that diagnosis is the risk of baby being big but there are also many other things that can come along with the diagnosis as well.
Just got my result and I passed it, mine was 95. So happy I was stressing out because all the failing that I am reading here.
I go tomorrow for 1 hour but plan to fast. Last pregnancy was told not to fast and failed then barely passed the 3 hour. Going to fast this time and hopefully i pass this first time! I work full time and Have a toddler i dont have 3 hours to sit around!
Well, I ate a Bojangles breakfast on my way to the doctor. When I got there, they decided to do the Glucose test because they needed some additional blood work anyway. So, I took the test and my results were 84.

In Australia you have to get the 2 hour test, and you have to fast for 12 hours. My doctor made me do it twice. I don't know why since my first one came back fine. I guess she just likes to cover her bases and double check everything is normal.
No but they checked my blood sugar without the glucose with a blood drawl I had and said if it was high they would just skip the 1 hour & just go straight to the 3 hour.
Has anyone else doc skipped hour test and did only the 3 hour one?? My doc didn't even give me the hour test choice... :/
My doc dosnt have me fasting for the one hour at all just adviced me no super sugary things right before hand I have mine on Friday.. so I guess we will see if I pass or not
I'm from Australia and here you don't have to fast for the hour test but you do have to fast for 8-12 hours, for the long test...ours is 2 hours though with 3 lots of blood being drawn
Yes, its very hard to go without food while pregnant! I could feel my face getting really warm and flushed towards the end. Once I ate it seemed like the best food ever!!
I took it and almost passed out I couldn't hear of see anything after about 30 mins, but it went away finally and I haven't gotten a call back so hopefully that's a good thing. My last pregnancy I took it with no problems and passed.
Guess there really is no coralation then. Lol just depends on our bodies. I've actually already taken the test and passed, my office asked that we fast after midnight and offered a morning appointment. I just think its weird that some say to fast and others don't. So I was curious if one or the other had a higher failing rate.
I had breakfast and lunch before I went but obviously stayed away from anything super sugary and my sugar was 92.
I have done two, the 1 hr which I fasted for but was later told I should have eaten and I failed (blood sugar after 1 hr was 10.1, normal is 6.8-7.2) and I did the two hour yesterday and get my results this afternoon (had to fast for 12 hrs for this one after eating a high carb diet for 3 days prior)
Had mine this morning after a small breakfast... Should hear the results tomorrow
