I was I'm Kmart the other day, and they have a lot there for cheap. Don't remember the price, but its better than target or babies r us.
Using a crib instead of bassinet this time. The crib is in our room it's a tight fit but I want her nearby anyway. It's at its highest setting and will be perfect for getting her in and out. I recommend Burlington if you have one near you. Their prices are the best for baby items. You can get a new mattress for under $100. That's what we did. The crib is 6 years old, my mom bought it for my first baby. Its a convertible crib so it was only unused for about 2 years. (It was used as a toddler bed).
I'm getting a playpen with a bassinet cause my sister and my sister in law swear by it. Specially since with my bed there's not enough room left. But it is true that they don't last very long and you are gonna have to get something for the future. But it gives you enough time to look at some cribs even when baby has arrived. Try looking for used ones. To be honest that doesn't matter. Just make sure the buy a new mattress.
i got my crib at walmart for $150. my parents paid for a good mattress so i dont know what that cost. i've seen a ton of great used cribs on craigslist or at second hand stores. i do have a friend who's daughter would only sleep in her pack and play. that works too! it all depends on what you prefer.
I'm not sure if where you live you have a Burlington coat factory but I know that's a very good place to get anything for your baby.
To be honest i think bassinets are a waste of money coz they really dont last long..this is my 4th baby and i bought a bassinet for my first and swore never again..you could buy a good cot second hand and just get a new mattress, thats what i did...for baby sleeping downstairs at first i use the pram, that way i get great use out of everything
It all depends where you live but definitely shop around. I know that some places have changed there requirements around cribs, some places don't allow drop side cribs. I live in NZ and that isn't an issue and it's what I have :)
Which is the best place to buy a crib? Amazon has got lot of mini crib which is quite less a price around 200$ first hand, I am not sure if it is a safety issue though... Any idea ladies...?
Just remember a bassinet doesn't last long so you will have to purchase something else in the near future
I bought a cot/crib first time round that had 2 different levels. One high for bassinet level when they are little and then one lower for cot/crib level when they are bigger! It worked so well. I didn't have much space or money first time round either. I got a second hand one for $200 and that's all I had to buy until I bought her a bed way later!!
