I'm working on baby #4 due June 29th.  I had epidurals with my first two. First one helped a tiny bit but I felt everything at the end. Second one was so strong I couldn't even push! My 3rd I decided I wanted to do it naturally.  I labored in warm water (which REALLY helps your body relax and dilate) when I felt pressure and some pain I got back in bed and she came so fast my nurse and husband delivered her, it was amazing!  I will definitely be laboring in water again and maybe even having a water birth! It helped me tremendously.

I am a big baby when it comes to pain. I had a epidural both births and both failed and natural birth is not fun. But the minute its out the pain literally disappeare. If I could I would have a csection.

I think ill prepare myself for a natural but if worse comes to worse i can use the epidural if i have time, as long as i dont need a c section

Try to avoid the epidural. My uncle is a doctor and didn't let his wife get it in any of her 5 pregnancies because he said he knows how bad it is for your body In the long run.

I've heard that labor and delivery is like running a marathon. So you wouldn't plan to run a marathon in nine months and never train for it. You would never make it that day. So there's so much we can do and really should do to help prepare our bodies and our minds. Because yes we are meant to do this naturally, and women have been doing it as long as humans existed. Look into prenatal yoga and also search on youtube for belly dancing during labor. This is my first pregnancy too so I don't know what it's like but I know we have many things and classes available to us!

You have to make the choice for yourself. I can tell you contractions are evil its a pain that can not be explained. I can tell you that the EPI neddle is nothing compared to the contractions. After 18hours of labor and not progressing pass 4cm I had to have a csention so I will be having one this time to. Good luck

I.couldnt agree more with mrskenny87! This is my first birth. I couldn't be more excited and overjoyed! I do "plan" to do a natural birth by using the tub as a way to relax and ease the pain of labor. I'm extremely health and wellness conscious.  I always choose the natural organic route IF possible, with the understanding that sometimes (very rarely) do I need to go the western medicine route. With the open mindedness and understanding I will "choose" the most nature plan still keeping in mind that that plan may change and I am open to it. Listen to your body. You still have quite a ways to go. See how the last month is going and I see open minded to change :) I plan to do acupuncture in the last trimester to better help prepare my body for the big celebration day (aka labor and delivery)

This is my second pregnancy and with my first I had the same thoughts at the beginning. I decided to keep the birth plan really simple so I didn't rule anything out as didn't know how my body would react/cope with the whole experience. I also read a hypnobirthing book which was incredible, gave me the confidence that my body was built to do this. Ended up choosing a water birth but labour was really quick so they didn't have time to run it, ended up with just a quick blast on gas and air and was fine. My advice would be to not make a definite decision until you are going through it as you may be disappointed if it doesn't go as planned

This is my first time too but I've decided to go natural, simply because that's what nature intended (not sure about water birth, haven't researched it enough). I'm not a big fan of medical intervention unless it is really necessary. So I guess I will be using the next 6 months to build up my courage saying 'I can do it!' and see how it goes on the day, lol. You might surprise yourself, pain is partly mental, so if you think you can do it, you may just be right.

Epidural if you have a lie pain tolerance believe me you won't feel the needle in comparison to the contractions.
