The three main nutrients you need are folic acid, vitamin d and iron. These supplements are easily obtained from the pharmacy. Then ensure you have enough calcium (milk, yogurt, hard cheeses). There are teas like nettle tea that contain a lot of nutrients (limit to one cup/250ml a day in the first trimester) - I drink this every second day and feeling fine. For constipation try eating one slice of rye bread with eg peanut butter for a snack, really helps. If you cannot hold food down, try healthy soups or homemade chicken broth soup. Like the above, there are many giudes online and your local library should also have some books. Then there are other valuable resources like your mum/aunts/grandmothers who can also help if not cook for you if you're lucky to have them nearby! Check the contents of any antenatal tablet and try getting the level of its contents into your diet each day. I will only be given an antenatal at my 12 wks scan and hope that I've been eating enough good food since I've been unable to eat for weeks :(

Make sure you eat a lot of fresh veggies, greens, fruit, etc. Folic acid is a very important nutrient that the baby needs, also dark orange veggies such as carrots and butternut squash are good for the eyes....you might try looking up a baby-healthy diet on the internet, or go to your local health department (or library) and see if they have some free information booklets for you to take home. Or if you go to the library, I'm sure they can help you check out some books that'll help you feed your baby well. But try to get into a Dr someway, somehow asap as they will be able to help you and keep a professional eye on you and your baby's health and hopefully keep any issues you might have to a minimum. Happy and healthy 9 to you mama! :)
