how bad is natural birth? fear of epidural...

I am absolutely petrified of an epidural...knowing the risks of a needle going into your spine and if you move you can become paralyzed really freaks me out...so much so that im wondering how bad is natural birth? Or is the epi really worth the risks...

Just realax and don't stress baby will come when its ready. Ive heard hypnobirthing is great. I had epidural with number 1 number 2 fell out at home b4 I could get to hospital.  I went into denial.
Don't let anyone rush your labour.

My med-free birth was amazing. It was hard, but I had a great support system, an incredible midwife, and huge amounts of faith in myself. I didn't even have an IV, no continuous monitoring, no interventions to increase the risks for further interventions or long-term complications (and yes, those risks are real). Remember to breathe, remember that your body knows what to do, and remember that when it is all over you will have the best prize in the world. Definitely do lots of research into the different options. Keep an open dialogue with your provider and discuss your feelings and what you want your birth experience to be. Trust yourself and don't be afraid of birth. It's natural and it's amazing (and you don't really have a choice - that baby has got to come out eventually!!)

It depends on your mental state going into labor. If you are stressed and tense, contractions will hurt a lot more. If you are relaxed and committed to working with the contractions, they become more like pressure than pain.

So far I have had a natural birth and one with an epidural I will say my natural birth hurt less and was way less complicated. Natural birth is easy it just depends on your mind set. And how well you can get through pain. I am going to try hypnobirth this time. With my natural birth I had a water birth and it was nice and very doable. I will never again get the epidural my back has never been the same since. Just make sure you prepare yourself for this natural birth

The risks of the epidural are often
often misunderstood. I used to think you could go paralyzed getting one but after reading books by doctors, there really aren't any serious risks. If you are seriously worried and want to know the pros and cons, i would get the book "easy labor: every woman's guide to choosing less pain and more joy during childbirth". I bought it off amazon. Im sure they have other good books out there too. (:
