Thank you so much for the replies ladies. I will remember your tips!
I took a class with my 1st pregnancy. Was it helpful?? Sort of.. They talk about positions for delivery, speeding up labor etc. They talked about it being easier to labor at home. However, they never talked about Ur water breaking (which mine did-go to the hospital ASAP) & they never discussed csections other than they are terrible & u should avoided at all costs. Baby or my vitals dropping. Well.. My water broke, my son was transverse so I had back labor (no pain meds for 17hrs), on Pitosin, our vitals dropped & I ended up w an emergency C. Every birth is VERY different. What helped me was deep breaths during my labor, just meditation/yoga type breathing. Breath in for the count of 4, out for the count of 6. I learned some useful things & missed some very needed info. After my 1st baby I've learned to just laugh at the thought of a "birth plan" bcuz there is so much that will change once in labor. It is very painful, it can be long/short, u may get an epidural-it might wear off before U push, it may take them 3 hrs to get to U to give U the epi, U could push for baby 10 mins or 2 hrs, etc. So the class is up to U if you've done research, talk to other moms about their deliveries, etc. you'll be fine. But know Ur birth won't be like any1 else's, even Ur moms. Plan for the unexpected. Many blessing to U for a safe & healthy delivery.
I'm not doing classes and I'm 36 weeks. I feel like the Internet makes that kind of stuff obsolete. But I heard that it's a great community for support
I'm 35 weeks (ftm) and will also not be doing classes. I also just read up on breathing techniques and labour, etc. All the best.
