Yeah, it's scary not knowing when it's happening. But don't let them stress U out it's their job to check U if you go in.  Download a contraction counter app that way you can really time the contractions. I've been having hard Braxton Hicks contractions lately they're awful. Real contractions you can't breath at least that was my experience, they knock the wind out of U & keep coming every 5 mins (then every min). But u should go to the hospital when they are 7mins apart.
My sis went into the hospital the nurse sent her home said it was nothing-she was home 30mins & thought something's happening she went back, the last nurse had gone off her shift (went home) the other nurse was so upset she couldn't believe my sis left the hospital as she was dilated to a  8.  My sis explained the other nurse released her, my sis had the baby in under an hr. So follow Ur instinct & concerns.

Your hospital hasn't given you a recommendation regarding contractions too? Shame on them. Don't know what they said, but my L&D says to come in if your contractions are 60 seconds long, at least every 5 minutes and have been for an hour. I would ask yours what they say because just going by your water breaking is not helpful

Okay thanks. I've been having contractions all of my third trimester. And they keep sending me home and telling me that if my water breaks to come back. But I'm scared I won't make it to the hospital in time.

Ur water doesn't always break. In fact it usually doesn't break & the dr will break it when Ur at the hospital. But yes if Ur water breaks head to the hospital ASAP.
