nervous & excited. full of questions. 1st timer

So I'm 23, and just found out I'm pregnant on 10/20 and about 8 wks pregnant. I previously didn't have health insurance but as soon as I found out I applied.  I'm awaiting for my card to come in about less then two weeks. And am  super nervous to make sure I'm doing everything right. I've been eating a lot of vegis, poultry and staying away from "fatty foods". I've also been taking it easy on days I'm tired and trying to get plenty of rest and have been taking prenatals.  I work in the food industry as a cook which can be a bit straining. I haven't yet told management since I haven't yet seen a doctor. Is there anything extra that I can do to make sure my baby is healthy? Any advice would be helpful. Thank you ladies.

Random bit of info too, when my sister was pregnant she was ordering from a Thai place and she picked something from the menu and the Thai lady that served her said you shouldn't eat bamboo shoots because in her country women eat them to bring on labour! Also can't eat sprouts or beans (alfalfa, mung beans etc) not sure why? Can't eat soft serve ice cream due to raw eggs in mixture (risk of food born illness) etc can't eat deli meats... The list goes on lol mainly all incase you contract a food born illness

If u want to stay away from fatty foods, you can eat foods with essential fatty acids...i drink coconut milk. Eat veggies that are dark green. Lots of fruits too. Yogurt, eggs that are hardboiled. Stay away from liver and half cooked meats. If u dont have food aversions, ur good!
