don't do it. have faith everything would be fine.
I had my nuchal scan this week which is a blood test and ultrasound. Ultrasound they measure the nuchal fold at the back of the neck and blood test they measure free hcg and pappa-a (I think that's what it is cAlled) results In two days my risk is 1:16,312. I think that is crazy to ask such a question, even if my baby did have Down syndrome or was high risk I still wouldn't have an abortion but it give you time to absorb the information and prepare!!
Think nuchal translucency is done around 12-14 weeks.
Thank you ladies the father and I are very healthy people I put my faith in gods hands for this and I'm staying positive that everything's fine like I said I would love it no matter what circumstances anyway just had mixed feelings about the not knowing. Hope you all have a great thanksgiving!
They will be able to do a transluchal (not sure of spelling) test where they take certain measurements during your scan, that then transfers into a ratio of the chances of downs. It's worth asking when you have your scan if they can give you any information as you will then have a fair idea of whether it is something you need to prepare for or not x
Hi...
I'm at that stage too... me and my husband decided against having the test...
I'm not against abortions it I think if it's because the baby has some disability it doesn't make sense. .. i mean we can have a really healthy baby and it may catch a virus or have an accident a few months or years after its born and end up severely disabled. .. what then?
But I keep having different feelings about it all...
I've decided not to do it in the end because I've heard many horror stories of people having the abortion and then finding out nothing was actually wrong with the baby :(
They have non invasive Down syndrome tests? However if your doctor is only offering an invasive test I would chose not to have the test done as well. Chances are your baby doesn't have Down syndrome anyway.
