perineal massage?

Has anyone else tried or plan on trying perineal massage? I tried it once during my last pregnancy & it hurt too bad so I decided to heck with it I'll just tear (lol). I'm not looking forward to giving it another go this time around but I'm wondering if maybe it won't hurt as bad? My guess is that I'll hate it just as much as before haha!

Coconut oil is good for everything... I don't know what my midwife used but that's likely what I'll try.

You have to do it yourself (or your partner or apparently if you have an awesome midwife she'll do it for you

Didn't know what that was, so I googled it and it sounds painful! Where would you even get one? In the hospital or in a spa or where?? If it help alleviate birth a little then I wanna give it a try!

I tried it once I didnt think it hurt I will probably do it again. What oil are we suppose to get again geekmom?

I haven't done it myself but my midwife spent several hours doing perineal massage with oil while I was in hard labor with my first. Thank goodness she did - between that and my positioning (hands and knees) I was able to deliver my nine pound baby boy without needing a single stitch. No damage, no tearing. A good midwife is a lifesaver.

I've heard of this and tbh I'm petrified of tearing! I don't even think I could reach even if I wanted to try it lol
