Thanks k you so much for your advice! My braxton hicks have been quite bad again...don't want to be a wuss and go in though to be told nothing is happening I have midwife on Tuesday and he will be here for that so hopefully she can tell me more...It will be a nightmare my other half getting back from London to Midlands when I do go into labour...This is my first as well and I'm petrified he won't be there

I've never experienced braxton hicks, this is my 3rd pregnancy. I've read about them and as I understand they aren't consistent. True contractions are consistent and don't stop til baby comes. I would call him for any amount of consistent contractions for about an hour, yes they are intense and stay that way. With my 1st my water didn't break but had consistent contractions. 2nd my water broke and with contractions water kept coming. I agree with last poster, coordinate with others for ride to hospital, ems maybe option, if hubby is working and have him meet you there. Each labor and delivery is different. My 1st took about 10hrs after I got to 5cm and my 2nd took about 5hrs after my water broke. Make several birth plans. Good luck to you n yours.

Ur not alone. I've been having really hard BH-I read dehydration can cause them to be more severe. Try upping Ur water intake. This is my 3rd baby & I'm nervous/anxious etc. w/ my 1st my water broke-no contractions at all. 2nd I went in for an ultra sound & my fluids dropped a lot & my placenta started having problems so they sent me to the hospital that day to have the baby. So now my 3rd I don't know what to expect. Read up on Braxton Hicks vs contractions. Really if they are consistent every ten mins w/in an hr. You can download a contraction counter app. Also maybe talk to some friends & family as a backup to get U to the hospital when Ur hubby is away.

Oh that's okay then will they be that intense from the start....I'm worried as my fiance is working 2 hours away from me apart from weekends when he's home at the moment and I will need to call him if and when I go into labour and I want to make sure it definitely is labour so I don't get him to come home for no reason haha

Contractions vary at first but when 5min apart for 1hr can be admitted to hospital or after your water breaks, whichever is first. You will know true contractions when you feel them, like super cramps times a thousand. True contractions are ones you can't talk through, they stop you dead in your tracts until over.

How will I know though? When you first go into labour how close are the contractions?

My advise would be, Just wait for the real ones. You will knw when you feel it, they're painful.
