how is breastfeeding going?

I am nursing and it seems my little girl can never get enough.  She uses both breast and still seems hungry and fuses. When I put her back on she refuses like there is nothing in there.  The lactation consultant says ur breast don't get empty. Baby is 9 days old

Same boat as you. My daughter eats every 2 hours for 15 minutes on each breast, with two bottles of 4oz fortified milk.

Mine eats every 2-3 hours and likes to use my boob as a pacifier. It's pretty normal for them to want to nurse more frequently.

She is probably building your milk supply :) be sure to burp her as well before offering the other breast and also be sure youv given enough of the first breast so she is getting the hind milk which will help keep her full x good luck!

Thanks ladies. Right now she is cluster feeding. Now that my milk has come in she gets plenty and there is no need to use formula. Every thing is all good now. Still greedy

That's pretty normal. I've nursed all 3 of my babies fr birth to 14. Months+. They say in the beginning newborns sometimes cluster feed. My lil guy cluster feeds-now just during the day ::-) so he sleeps a lil more at nigh. He's 15days now. The 1st wk home he packed on 10 oz. Try to not let the baby use Ur boob like a pacifier. I did w my 1st what a mistake (it's hard bcuz U just want to snuggle them) but if U do they will get used to it which will make everything so much harder in a few months.

My little man is 5 weeks old and eats every 2 to 3 hours.  He is a tank! He also likes to just hang out at my boobs.  Thinking he needs a soother since his big sister is not enjoying how often he is attached to my breast.  I agree with trying to pump after to see if there is anything left.  She may just be fusy!

Are you using a pacifier? I know ppl say no paci when EBF, but it works for us. Babies need a pacifier. She will finish a feeding, I know I produce about 2oz per feeding, some times she feeds more (Returning to the first breast) so I'm sure she's extra full! But she still roots, sucking on her hands, my arms, my face! Lol! She needs to be pacified after her feedings, so I almost automatically give her a paci after she burps. So far it works for us. She's 9 days old today.

Have you tried pumping after she feeds to see how much is left....we should produce 2-3oz altogether.....my Lil boy doesn't suck hard enough therefore not emptying me and making me pump and supplement here and there....I don't think I'm producing enough bc he only gained 2oz in a week.
