velamentous cord insertion

Anyone has experienced this in the past? I was just diagnosed with this and I'm trying to keep it together. As long as it does not develop into vasa previa is good, but still now more monitoring if the baby's growth. So far is good, but oh so scared! =/

The umbilical cord is not inserted in the placenta but attached via some membranes, so there's a risk the baby may be small because it may not get enough nutrients.so the doc has to monitor more often to check for appropriate growth. There are other possible risks, like if the placenta stays to close to the cervix then it could become vasa previa, and that one is the really serious one
