You only need a Rhogam shot if your negative blood type and your partner is a positive blood type. You do not need to get the shot while ur pregnant if it's your very first pregnancy or unless you endure serious trauma, such as a bad car accident that would potential damage to your fetus.you can wait until you're baby is born and get the blood tested. If the baby is negative blood type you will not need the shot. The shot itself creates a desensitization of your blood for the positive blood type so your negative blood will not attack and eliminate the Positive blood. Clearly this is detrimental to all future babies of positive blood type cannot survive the hostile negative blood... it's actually quite remarkable we have the option of Rhogam. Regardless of the risks the benefits are great if you want to have future pregnacies.
Im b+ dont know what that means though..
Im an O- if I have a bad fall or an injury which causes bleeding a need a shot and also have to go for a couple of extra blood tests towards the end of the pregnancy
Whats the shot for? Ob never mention
So my OB doctor knows my blood type? She never said that she does. I just get so nervouse
I am ab+ which means I am a universal receiver but my OB still wants to give me a shot when I deliver.
If your negative at all and your husband is positive you get the shot. Doesn't matter if it's ab o a or b if it's followed by a negative you get the shot :) nothing to fear its to help not hurt.
If your negative And your partner is positive you need a shot.
I have The same blood type, they will give u a shot if u start bleeding or spotting this means that the baby has had contact with your blood, but if u don't bleed during your pregnancy they'll give it to you at 28 weeks and then another one after you give birth to prevent antibodies to grow and afect future pregnancies.
