Birth Control??

Ok.... I have my 6 week check up in about a week or two and I have to decide on birth control at that appointment....I have done alot of research and been on the Pill and the shot.... They both make me gain weight, the shot is the worst...and when i went on the pill it made me sick! And i had bad mood swings on it.... I love kids but LOL i definitly dont want ANY more right now so I need to figure out something.... Me and DH could use condoms but niether of us likes them....I was thinking my last resort would be the IUD... has any one had one? Bad or Good? Any other birth control suggestions would be great too!!

Justice-
With the copper IUD you will have heavier periods, but with the Mirena (because of the hormones) most women experience lighter periods etc.

Having gone through IVF twice in order to get pregnant, we are opting for zero birth control. If we miraculously get pregnant on our own we will be ecstatic and then discuss birth control!

Ok so check this out for info on the IUD. After reading this I don't think I am going to get one...I don't want heavy and more painful periods (I have really bad periods anyways..) and I don't want to have to check for a string all the time and I don't want it to get "embedded" in my uterus! Ahh! haha I think I will just stick to the pill or maybe look into the Nuva Ring.

I use to be on the shot back in the day...it wasn't that bad. I am not sure if I gained weight on it...maybe a little? The only down side to the shot that I am aware of was the irregularity of bleeding in the beginning. I pretty much had light spotting for 4 weeks straight (hmm sounds familiar..haha) and then I didn't have anymore periods. Which was super nice! However it did make me dry so lubricants were necessary...TMI? Sorry..haha.

Oh wow! That sounds painful!!! I did like the fact that the IUD is effortless, and long term, so I will probably try it out!~

Hmmm never thought about the nuva ring....I will do a little research on that one too thanks!

My experience with the IUD has been both a good and a bad one. After the removal of my last one I was unsure whether or not I would get another, but after weighing my options I am going to get the copper one inserted at my 6 week checkup.

I had the Mirena IUD for 3 years and loved it! The reason I am going for the copper this time around is because the Mirena has hormones, and it took my body several unpleasant months to adjust back to normal after its removal. In my mind there is no better form of birth control...effortless, easy, and convenient- I would totally recommend the IUD to anyone! The copper one lasts for 10 years while the Mirena lasts for 5 so they are great for long term usage.

My experience was bad because the doctor who inserted my IUD cut the strings too short and it traveled up in my uterus. When it came time for removal they had to basically scrape my uterus with a long ice cream scoop to try and remove it. It took 2 hours with no pain meds, and on their last try (before resorting to filling my uterus with water and floating it out) the docs got it. What a painful ordeal!
