So after this happen I started him on prune juice and water, first i mixed it 50/50 but it was to strong so now he gets 1ozprune nector and 3 oz water it softened his stool for a few days and he has had a bowel movement everyday since
But yesterday there was more blood and rockhard stool, today he woke up screaming pooping and did 3 times this morning, the last one went from hard to soft to yellow liquid
We saw the Dr today, she gave us a prescription we have to put in this bum (he is to much pain to give him supository) and I have to give him less cereal (just rice not oatmeal) and start him on peaches and pears. She is refering us to a pediatrician (here the kids just see the gp unless there is something wrong, there is a shortage of all Dr's and pediatricans
Definitely sounds like he is constipated.... Noah had ALOT of problems too with this when he was about 1 month old.... its horrible you feel so bad for them... I would definitely try some water.... possibly some baby juice that should soften it up and help move things along....But Definitely contact the dr and let him know whats going on and that you found blood in his stool! Good luck
I am definitely not a doctor, but I think he might be dehydrated if his poop is that "solid" that you have to help it along. I would give him water before prunes... hopefully he is okay, because blood in his stool is definitely not good :( Let us know what your doctor says.
Hayden has had many issues around her GI track....DR always says "it is fine but if you see blood in stool, call us" - so I would call first thing tomorrow. Also - you can give the babes a little bit of water to help with the constipation...good luck & keep us posted!
Ok I just re-read that...and it sounds like he is constipated. The blood could be from straining or from hemmroids. Still I would ask the doctor what to do. I know that some babies have to take meds for their constipation. If he is taking any other meds they could be causing the constipation too.
Blake had blood in her stool and it turned out she was allergic to my breast milk and we had to put her on special formula. The screaming in pain is not ok. You need to get that checked. Tell your pediatrician you have to be seen..they will work you in.
Blood in stool is a pretty serious thing... I would definitely call the doctor immediately. Are you feeding him solids yet? If so, prunes REALLY help constipated babies, so does applesauce. Also you can try infant belly massages- you can find tutorials online- they can help loosen his stool. Good luck- keep us updated! ;)
