Congrats to all us new mommies!! I got back from the hospital on Sunday, and I check the boards today to see all these new babies :).
So I went to the doctor on Thursday the 12th, and she said let's get it over with, come to the hospital tonight at 8 pm. So they started me on Cytotec (sp?) to soften my cervix. At that point I was not dialated or effaced at all. That went on all night long, getting doses every 3 hours, needless to say I barely slept for an hour. At 830 the, next morning, I was barely dialated to a 1 1/2, and they decided to start the pitocin around noon. I wasn't even trying to take the pitocin without an epidural, so I got that, then they started the pitocin. I took a nap right after that happened, and sometime in that 45 minute span, my water broke! So I was dialated to a 3 after my water broke, 45 minutes later they put an internal contraction monitor on me and I was at a 6. Then about an hour later, they put an internal monitor on the baby, and I was to a 9 1/2!!!! They let me labor down for a while and get the baby's head down, and after only about 20 minutes of pushing, Madison Hope was born. All the time I was in labor, I thought the pitocin was on, but after the baby's heart rate went down, I guess they shut it off and I didn't notice. So all that dilation was done on my own, I was definitely surprised about that after being induced.
Labor was great, and being a mommy is absolutely amazing!! I hope everything is going well for all of you too, and good luck to the rest of you that are still waiting for your little ones.
