Thanks Ladies! It does drive me NUTS and its very scary! It only ever goes off at night.... after the alarm goes off I dont sleep good for a week.... I am up all night checking on him LOL.... sometimes I think it would be better not to have it bc it causes TONS of worry when it goes off but he does always seem to be fine when I jump up and check on him! I will def call teh doc and see what they have to say about it!
We have one that I borrowed from my cousin, his has gone off a few times which scare us. Check how high the sensitivity is set, they told me sometimes if a big truck went by thier house it would set it off and stuff like that or if he moved to much. Having it has been great because we put him in his room at 6 weeks and it makes me feel better having it. one thing to note though is it has only gone off during the day...at night would be really scary
I am with Amy... we skipped on this because I knew that I would drive myself crazy as well :) I would have to think that they aren't 100% reliable and like Amy said... if they aren't moving or breathing hard enough, I would think the pad wouldn't pick up the sensation.
Maybe just give your doctor a call... I have a feeling he/she would be able to tell you the answers to your questions. Chances are, your little guy is fine... but, just so you have reassurance maybe call your doctor and ask about the movement sensor and its reliability.
I almost got one of those but then I figured I would go crazy...haha. What I read about them is that they will sound an alarm if your baby has no movement after 20 seconds. But I have read that sometimes babies will have irregular breathing and have pauses as long as 30 seconds...so I don't know. I would think odds are he is fine and will continue to be fine but that monitor might make you go nuts worrying about it. :)
