I am not having a "theme" for the baby's room. We have old plaster walls so we have to wall paper. I am getting this paintable wall paper that has a texture to it, then every so often there are these raised squares. I am painting the square different shades of blue/green (haven't decieded on colors for sure, probably very "water" colors) and the rest will be a neutral of some sort. My mom will make the rest of the stuff (bedding/curtains...) is whatever colors i tell her and we will probably do geometic shapes or color blocks or something like that.
Oh gosh, I haven't started planning the nursery at all yet and I'm 22 weeks! DH and I are moving into a new house in about a month, so I can't really start yet. Do you think I will have enough time to get it done!? I feel so overwhelmed sometimes with all the stuff I have to plan and buy and prepare. This is our first baby, so I guess I don't really know what to expect. Any thoughts?
We didn't want too much of a theme but figured animals was a safe route. All of our rooms are colorful so it didn't make sense to give Phin a neutral room.
I just can't wait for it to be done and to bring Phin home! This is totally worse than the 2ww ^_^
Hey Amy... that is what we have decided too! We chose more of a color scheme rather than a "theme". My husband and I are realtors and see some funky stuff on a daily basis... so we are jaded in that sense!
Our house is painted a tan color with white trim. So it is "neutral". I have accent walls and I might do an accent wall in her room. It kinda depends on what I think after the bedding goes in. My mom is going to make the bed skirt, accent pillow for chair, curtains, and other accessories. So, we have chosen 3 fabrics that we will use in the room.
Your colors are very similar to our color choices... we are going with dark purple, red, green, pink, and green. I picked up some photos and frames with mattes in them, at Ikea today. I just need to find furniture that I like, and then I can start putting the room together!
KELE: That color sounds really pretty... I can't wait to see what the room looks like when it is done! It is so much fun decorating their room! Wonder I will be saying that with baby #2 :)
When we bought our house we painted the room across the hall a kind of khaki color. We knew it would be baby room but we didn't want to not paint it because it was this awful blue color...floor to ceiling! (Think of the kids' toothpaste that is deep blue with glittery silver in it..that color blue!) So we chose neutral. I am glad we did because now we can do whatever we want and then when we re-sell our house in a few years it won't be a weird color. If we were planning on living here longer than that though I would have LOVED to paint it a more fun color. :(
We are having a girl and we don't really have a theme...more a color scheme. Dark purple, green, gold and pink! I love those overstuffed baby bumpers (they are usually sold in cute little baby boutiques that are privately owned). It is going to take up way too much of my time but I figure it is worth it for the first one! I am sure by the time we have the second baby I will be sick of looking at fabric and catalogues...but right now it is fun!
We find out the sex of the baby tomorrow! We're so excited!!
oooh sounds cute! Do you know the sex yet? or are you going to wait?
We painted the room pale yellow, and we bought the Cottontail Friends bedding from Pottery Barn. It has little baby animals on it, and it's light yellow and light green.
