Diarrhea??

So Noah has had Diarrhea for the past like 5 days (no other symptoms - no fever), we took him to the Dr yesterday and they said he seemed fine, They told me to stop his formula for 12 hours (bc sometimes milk/formula can irritate the issue)  and just to give him pedialite or Gatorade, Well that didnt help bc he still has Diarrhea, the Dr then said just to give him some rice cereal and some bananas to "firm" things up.... But last night he was just sooo fussy and all night, and this morning too, and he STILL has Diarrhea... I dont know if I am overreacting or not, How long should he be safe having Diarrhea, should I call the doc again?? He seems to be irritated by something, I mean he fussed all night and this morning....

FYI - I havent introduced any new foods in a while so i dont think that its an issue with him being allergic to something or that something he ate messed with his tummy? Whats left then?? Possibly a Bacterial infection or somthing?

UGH my poor baby.... so should I call again? or should I just wait it out a day or two to see if the cereal and the bananas help?

I would call again.  You might be right about the bacterial infection.  Plus, not every time there is an infection will a baby have a fever.  In fact, I used to get pnuemonia a TON as a kid and rarely ever ran a fever.  A fever can be a symptom of infection or a virus, but not necessarily.  So, I might ask about the possibility of a bacterial infection.

5 days seems like that would be my limit before I pushed for some tests.  you don't want the little guy to get dehydrated, ya know?  Hope he feels better soon!
