Sleep Habits??

Hi ladies! I would love some feed back! or HELP

Noah started sleeping through the night at about 7 weeks.... He of course will have an off night here and there like when he is sick or not feeling well but will normally go right back to his regular sleeping through the night schedule after about 3-4 days (or when he is feeling better) but for the most part has been a good sleeper... Just recently  (maybe about the time we started feeding solids) he has not been sleeping well at night at all he is getting up 2-3 times a night for the last 2-3 weeks... I of course check the diaper and check to see if he is hurt or stuck and NOTHING... I then will of course put the bottle in his mouth and he will fall RIGHT back to sleep literally like 2 minutes later ( he will NOT take a pacifier, i have tried a billion and one times) so I know he is not hungry.... I am really frusterated with the situation and am thinking about trying maybe the Ferber method to get him back on his regular sleep schedule bc nothing really seems to be wrong with him other than he is waking himself up..... I dont know maybe his teeth are bothering him?? I have given orajel before bed and this does nothing to change the sleeping habits either.... any suggestions? Should I try letting him cry it out?

I think that is just what I am going to have to do....just let him cry it out.....he used to be a good sleeper now he is getting up 2-3 times a night and MAN its hard to adjust going back to no sleep after having him sleep through the night from 5 weeks on! Definitely trying it this weekend!

Well Leighton started sleeping through the night at the 4 month mark.  I was getting up 3 times (sometimes 4) a night.  Finally, I just said... "I am becoming depressed, agitated, and miserable.  So, I am going to let you "cry it out"."

It was really hard because your instincts say "GO HELP THAT SCREAMING CHILD!"  But, in my heart, I knew that I was teaching her one of her 1st lessons.  It took Leighton longer than 3 days... it took maybe 4-5 days (?)  But, we have not had any middle of the night wake ups any more.

Also, I do know that somewhere between 4-6 months babies change their sleep pattern.  A few weeks ago Leighton did.  She used to go to bed at 6:30pm and get up at 7:00am.  She was waking up too early (around 5-5:30am) so we moved her bedtime back an hour and we are now back on track.  So, try adjusting his bedtime a bit to see if that helps.

Thanks! I didnt actually get to try this during the weekend bc we had out of town guests at the last minute UGH! They were suppose to stay with my in laws but thats another story LOL so I didnt want to disturn others and wanted to try this when my household is calm and how it normally would be at bed time so we will be trying it either during the week or this weekend!

Whew Jenny that makes me feel tons better! Hopefully he does as good as Madison did!

So I don't have many night-time issues, but nap time was the same way for Madison. She wouldn't be hungry, she would be asleep as soon as the bottle hit her lips, but boy would she throw a fit!! So after the last month or so of rocking her to sleep and her crying for at least a good 10-15 minutes, yesterday I decided I was just done!! So I put her in her crib, and pulled the shades and pulled the door almost closed behind me. She screamed bloody murder, but only for like 5 minutes!! I is amazing, and I can't believe it took me this long to do it!! Same thing today, she got really mad for a few minutes, then was out!! Good luck to you Justice :)

Oh man! He only slept through the night that one night! So this weekend (when I have soem extra time to nap) I am going to try the cry it out method! I didn't wnt to do it M- F because I work full time and MAN am i tired when I get home so I figured over the weekend would be better for both of us! Becuase they say it takes about 3 nights right?? I normally put him down about 7:30 or 8 and he will normally eat a full 6 oz before bed.... I think he just got in to this pattern that he thinks he should be getting up bc when I put the bottle in his mouth he will literally go right back to sleep so I dont think he is hungry! So tonight I will try the Ferber method or just let him cry it out! I swear I have tried everything and this is my last resort.... I feel awful but I know he can sleep throught the night he has been doing it since he was 7 weeks old! I will let you ladies know how it goes!

Yay...glad he is back to sleeping thru the night. :) When do you put him down for the night and how long before that do you feed him his last bottle? The reason I ask is maybe he is a bit hungry but if you top off his tank right before bed maybe that will help. Thankfully we have not had any sleep issues (knock on wood) yet. Who knows maybe is was just an uber long phase of restless sleep. I often wonder if they have dreams or nightmares that might startle them in the night making it hard to go right back to sleep. Why don't these little guys/gals come with an owners manual? hehehehe

I also heard giving them a bottle now is just teaching them learned habits, they don't need it.  I actually started this with MAdy and she hasn't once actually cried she talks a bit then falls asleep.  It is worth a try I think.  Good Luck

Yes, You would go and just reassure them you are there and leave them be, you start out at 5 minutes and gradually increase the time in 5 minute incriments (sp), I am thinking that is what I am going to have to try to get him back on his regular schedule!

LOL noah is 16 lbs my chunky monkey! So I know his tummy is full and can hold through the night

From all I have heard - crying it out. Hayden will do some nights through and some nights getting up once, and others getting up 2Xs. When she wakes I give her 4 oz - which she kills and goes right back down. It takes about 20 mins to feed her and get her down, so I give in. But people tell me responding to them waking w/ a bottle sets a bad pattern. I am waiting until she reaches the golden 15 lbs to cut her off and have her cry it out.

Ferber is where you do timed visits back to the crib, right?
