Monday Updates

Phin is 9 weeks old and growing so fast!

He is still EBF and does wonderfully. He gets 2 bottles at night from Daddy, onr right before bedtime and at the first feeding overnight. He is making a routine for himself that is quite easy for us to follow, I rather that he set the routine for what suits him than for us to force something on him. Fortunately his natural ways are meshing with ours so we are able to let that happen.

We are thinking of making the move to his crib soon...that is if I can handle it (lol). I figure we rushed around to get his room done before he arrived and he has yet to spend a night in it.

He LOVES his swing and would stay in it all day if we let him, as for his bouncer he has just started getting to like that. We keep it at his grandmothers house for him to play with there and yesterday he had a ball with it.

He goes in for his vaccinations next week, I think I will nurse him as they administer the shots.

As for me, I am doing well. School is over for the summer so I get to just be Mommy not Mommy and a student. I am excited about it and appreciate that I have the ability to do so. DH and I DTD for the first time since Phin was born....it was wanted and needed but still hurt a bit and for a few days after. Oh well I guess practice makes perfect!

Forgot to add...

At her doctor appt. she weighed in at 10 lbs. 6 oz and 22 1/2 in. long.  50th percentile for both :)  (not that i am in to that whole percentile non-sense, but i just thought I would mention it.)

Leighton 9 weeks today

Well... we had our "Well Baby Check Up" and shots appt. yesterday.  She was so pleasant during the check up letting the doctor and intern pretty much do whatever to her without one single fuss.  But, let me tell you... when she got the shots... all h ell broke loose!  I have NEVER heard her scream the way she did when she got them.  I got tears in my eyes.  I didn't think that it would effect me that way, but it did!  After about 30 seconds of her "new" scream (we had never heard this one before since she has never been in pain before!) she stopped and was a happy baby.  But, she pretty much slept fromn the time we got home at 11am until about 4pm.  She was exhausted from her trip to the doctor :)

She is consistently reaching for her toys on her little "play gym" thingy (I have no clue what they are really called).  She loves batting at the clear ball that has a smaller ball inside of it that makes noise.  She gets this huge smile on her face and she almost makes this giggling sound when she does it.

Nigel is growing like a weed...he is sleeping alot more during the night now..which I am so happy about. His focusing more on things now which is good and I use a rattler to help him focus and he follows it. I have to go back to work tomorrow which I am dreading because I do not want to leave him...but my mom came up and will help with the baby so that is good I dont want to put him in a big daycare but she will not be here forever so I have to start looking. Nigel is 12 pounds but his clothes are still do big for him even the newborn clothes so that is funny, overall I am happy that he is doing good.

Mark will be 8 weeks old of the 9th! He is growing so fast, and is so much bigger than my first was at this point! I think he is going to be tall like his dad (he is 6'3). He is smiling a lot, which I love. Mark really loves the mobile in his crib, which is good considering he is hardly ever in there in the first place.

Mark is still sleeping with us and I have no plans to move him to his crib anytime soon. He starts off in his bassinett, but always ends up with us.

Jem-
With my first I gained 80lbs, and was back in a size 2 after 8 months all because of Bikram! I have been practicing for almost 5 years now and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I am getting ready to return next week, I was a little worried to start sooner on the chance that the sweating could affect my milk supply. If you haven't gone before I would suggest that you not eat anything for 3 hours before you go, and stay hydrated throughout the day so that you don't have to drink water during class. Have fun!

Hayden is 7 weeks today

And guess what? I GOT LAID OFF WHILE ON MATERNITY LEAVE! yup. Crazy - huh? But I am taking it well. I do not need to work - but was a little work obsessed. A Vice Prez at a media company for 5 years now. My severance does not take effect until I return from maternity leave on June 15. But there is shadyness - so luckily my father in law and brother and law have a law firm focused on workmans comp.

Anyway - looking forward to working out and raising Hayd. I guess I kind of needed to be let go to really "let go".

Hayd slept a TON this past week - 3 days in a row - slept all day and all night. I think this was a growth spurt - but I was expecting her to be ornery - not sleepy. We take a 2 hr walk every morning - she sleeps through most of it.

Major issues with where she sleeps. She is outgrowing her bouncy for sleeping - b/c she woke up 2Xs with her head in the seat and legs hanging off. She wakes EVERY TIME I get her in the crib. She only sleeps when she is in bed with us. BAD HABIT, I know.

She still eats every 2 hrs or so - would love to have longer intervals. She still wakes to feed 2-3 times between 10 pm and 7 am.

KELE - I nursed Hayden through a shot and totally recommend it, she did well and it made me feel like I was able to comfort her through it. BUT they warned me about choking for the baby on this.

I am using the EASY schedule and like it - EAT ACTIVITY SLEEP and YOU.

I also called Bikram studio to ask about breastfeeding  and I think I will start with 2 classes a week and keep up with my 4-5 miles walking.

Jack will be 8 weeks on Thursday. I can't especially say time has flown though every day gets a little bit better. We have been blessed with a very fussy baby but we think we are falling into the good times now with the cooing and smiling on occasion. Things are good. ;)

I am trying to put Jack on a schedule these days so I can have some since of normalcy. However, if we still feed on demand it is just the things we do throughout the day are similar everyday. So far today we have eaten breakfast, went over our ABC flashcards (I know it is way too early but no harm in trying right?), did our tummy time, mom worked out for 30 minutes and now we are checking emails and getting ready for the day....so far so good. I have finally learned that I can't pick him up everytime he cries so I have to leave him in his crib for a while every morning to let him cry it out. This has helped very much in me keeping my sanity. In the past week I have started exclusively bottle feeding breast milk. He still doesn't seem to be able to breast feed directly as I have a very forceful let down. Unfortunately this situation is making it hard to keep breast feeding as I have to do double duty every time about 6 times a day. At least I would like to stick it out for 3 months and then re-evaluate the situation.

I think that is about it for us this week...planning on moving Jack outside the bedroom in about a week though I am not sure how ready I will be. ;)

Hope everyone is doing well.
