Monday Updates

Phin had his 4 month (and 2 week) check up last week. He weighs 14lb 13oz and is 26 inches long. He laughed and smiled through the whole visit..that is until the shots happened. Poor little monkey, he cried of course but I nurse him right after the shots and it calms him right down. He had a low fever for the next 3 days and was sore at the injection site. He is now ok and back to my smiley happy baby.

The ped said we could start solids...which has been a bone of contention between Chris and I. I really wanted until 6 months to start solids, but seeing the ped said we could start, that is what Chris wants to do. Honestly after a week of oatmeal, he has not slept better and has shown that he knows how to use a spoon. I just don't think he needs it yet, he is always satiated after a bottle and if he is still getting up for a 2 am feeding what is the point of dumping excess calories into him that he doesn't need. Ugh...times like that I have to remind myself that he has 2 parents and not everything is my choice.

We took him to a drive in on Saturday night and he did awesome. He slept through Harry Potter but loved watching the Transformers. I think the robot noises intrigued him. I have some pics of us all in the back of the truck with blankets and popcorn and whatnot. I will post them later once I get them off the camera.

No big milestones reached this past week, still working on rolling over. He LOVES to stand up, absolutely adores it. I wonder if he will skip the crawling and go straight for walking. It is like his mind is ahead of his body as he so wants to get up and go and talk to you while he is at it...but of course he can't and that gets him pretty frustrated.

AFM-I am doing my best to get in 40 minutes of exercise a day, a combo of aerobics and yoga. I have lost 3 lb in 2 weeks. I have really upped my willpower when it comes to snacking and have filled the house with healthier snacks so at least when I break I am having a handful of almonds instead of potato chips ^_^

Hi girls!  It's been a long time since I've been able to get on here!  Life has been crazy with 2 kids and hubby working away from home! Not much time for the ol' internet!  I was just looking at last week's updates, I'm going to try to get on to update on Monday.  My little Adalie at 4 mo. & 1 week was 17 lbs. 10 oz.!!!!  Camden was always a little chubby baby too until he started crawling then he slowed down.  But she's SOOOOOOOO beautiful and perfect (just like everybody else's babies! :)  )  I'll get an update on her weight and height Monday a.m.
I hope everybody's been doing well, I miss "talking" to everybody!

Leighton is one of the oldest in this forum, but by far the tiniest!  haha... we had her 4 month appt. a few weeks ago and she was only 12 lbs. 13 oz and 23 1/2 in. long.

She eats cereal w/ mashed banana in the morning, then eats her 6 oz. bottle.  In the afternoon she eats mashed avocado and then a 6 oz. bottle.  So, she still eats her bottle even though she is eating solids... so she is still eating all of her formula in conjunction with the solids.  By starting her on solids, her reflux is ALMOST non existant... meaning, she hardly ever has any episodes anymore which is great because she was in pain and it was very hard to watch!

Loves the exersaucer, loves "talking", loves swimming... she just loves life!  We were in Palm Desert this weekend and my cousin's baby boy is 3 weeks younger than Leighton and they were worlds apart in development.  It is crazy how babies truely develop at their own pace.  She kept comparing what Leighton was doing (rolling over, screaming for fun, talking, using the exersaucer, etc) and saying "Landyn isn't doing any of that."  I kept reminding her that it really doesn't matter because when they are 10, 12, 16, however old, what milestones they hit at what age when they were younger won't matter.

Leighton goes to bed at 6:30pm and doesn't get up until between 6:30-7:30am.  Eats a bottle, then goes back to bed and gets up anywhere between 9-11am.  It's great because I get to sleep in since John is the one who feeds her in the morning.  So, I have been getting 9-12 hours of sleep at night :)  She takes 2-3 naps ranging in time from 30 min to 1 hour.  But, she is a wonderful night time sleeper now, so I don't stress about the length of her naps.

TOES... I am looking into getting her into a group on The Little Gym.  Let me know what you think :)

Brock was 17 pounds and 3 ounces at his 4-month appt.  No rolling over yet, but he sways from side to side!  He loves grabbing his toes!  He is talking so much now also!  He has been waking up earlier and earlier each morning!  Today was 4:45, and I was like no way!  So, he got a bottle and rocked back to sleep!  Then he slept until 7:30!  He used to sleep until 7:30 from the nighttime!  Too early for mommy!  He is doing okay with cereal...still only eats about a tsp.!  We are signed up for 2 sessions of a playgroup class offered through our school district, and we're going to The Little Gym on Wednesday for a trial to see if we like the little class for him...he's in the "Bugs" group!  School already!  It will be fun for both of us!

Hayden had her 4 month last month - she is 13 lbs 1 oz and 24.5" long and in the 50th percentile for both. Ped told us not to do solids until 5.5 - 6 months because the formula has most calories. So we will wait another 6-8 weeks.

We took a step back in sleeping through the night - lately she has been up 2-3 xs a night for a feeding so instead of giving her 4 oz each time, I am going to decrease and try to get her to eat more during the day.

She loves "cobra" pose on her belly with her arms pushing her up and is now starting to pull her head up when in her car seat. She rolls to her belly all the time - but only selectively to her back.

She is the loudest baby in our moms group - she just sqwaks!

Mady is doing really well.  We don't have her 4 month check up till the 5th she is the baby of the group.  She hasn't rolled yet but we are working on itShe also is starting to love to stand.  Finally tummy time is fun and she really enjoys it.  I bought this spin and learn activity thing from lamaze and she really enjoys it.

As for sleeping she was sleeping thru the night for awhile, but all of a sudden she wakes up once a night now.  My room is downstairs so I lazily bring her to bed to nurse her then she stays with me.  Also Kev is gone so it is nice to have her there with me, it will prob change when he is back in bed.  As for naps, I wish she would nap more, she naps about 4 times a day but only for 30-40 minutes.  I can't get anything in.

I also have no idea about weight loss.  I have given up but try to still do my yoga and walk with her.  I see the dc next week for a pap so I will find out my wieght then.  Most old clothes are fitting a little tight but they fit.

I am seriously dreading going back to work in a month.  I have enjoyed this time with Mady so much and don't want to leave her all day.  But have to pay the bills right.  Family is watching her which is a huge relief, but still sad.

At his 4 month check up Mark weighed 16 lbs even and measured 26 inches long. He is such a big boy! Mark is a healthy eater- he loves solids. This morning I would load up his spoon with sweet potatoes and give it to him to place in his mouth. It was a mess, but good practice for when he starts doing it on his own!

He loves tummy time, and will spend hours playing with his rattles while on his stomach. When sitting in the tripod position he will now lift his arms up and sit straight for a few seconds then replace his hands. Also, when on his tummy, he will lift his bum up so his knees are on the ground and he will try to crawl.

Micah is a wonderful big brother. When Mark is crying he will run to him and say, "It's okay baby Mark, your Micah is here." It is so freaking sweet!

I am still 10 lbs from my pre- pregnancy weight. I am short to 10 lbs can look like so much more on me than on someone taller. It is super frustrating as I am so uncomfortable being 2 sizes bigger than I am used to, and I have a closet full of clothes I cannot wear. ;(

Blake had her 4 month check up last week too! She was 15 lb and 2 oz and 26 3/4 inches long. She is so long and skinny..she is in 6-9 month clothes though because of her length. She has started to not eat as much which really stresses me out. She only eats like 20 oz a day now!! We switched to a fast flow nipple which really helps her eat more; she was getting frustrated with the medium flow nipples because they weren't fast enough.

Blake also went to the drive in on Saturday! :) She liked Transformers but slept through the Hangover (Thank God!) We just sat out on our lawn chairs and I have a net thing that goes over her carrier seat and protects her from mosquitos. I also use the Off mosquito fan thingie around her. So far...she hasn't been bit. We have soo many mosquitos it is ridiculous. :(

Blake loves to stand too and she keeps getting better and better at it! I don't think she will skip crawling though. When I put her down she immediately rolls over to her belly and gets in the crawling position. She will drag herself around, she hasn't figured out how to crawl but she will get to where she needs to be! haha

I sleep so much better now. I know she knows how to get out of almost all positions. Every once in awhile I hear her complaining and I check on her and sometimes she gets her arm turned funny behind her so I help her out of course, but that is about the only thing she needs from me! It is sooo awesome. I don't feel compelled to go check on her all the time. :)

Blake's favorite toys are her exersaucer and her dolls. She likes the bumbo better now too because she can hold herself up better. Oh and her feet are pretty awesome entertainment for her!

I have no idea where I am on weight loss. I notice little things are getting tighter and smoother like they were pre-baby but I just don't obsess over my weight like I use to before I had Blake. I will still look at pictures of me before I was pregnant and I can't believe I use to be that little! I guess I need to just suck it up and make it a priority. I still have about 10 actual pounds to go but I need to work on toning too I am sure. I doubt I will ever see size 2 again though..not after my hips stretching! haha

We started Carter on cereal this week, its kinda a big thing here since in Canada we wait until 6 months to even start cereal but he was not eating  enough formula. Since starting the cereal he has begun eating more formula, at his 4 month checkup he weight 13lb 8oz. He has only slept throught the night twice so its not helping with that

He is rolling over big time now and likes to sleep on his side. As Kele mentioned I think he will skip crawling because he loves standing up so much...he has actually been doing this since he was 2 months old and it can get annoying because he won't just sit there anymore. He can actually push himself up to his feet byhimself (when I am lightly holding him) He does not seem to care for the jolly jumper
