What are your DO'S & DON'TS FOR THE HOSPITAL

Ok, like I said... I am a preplanner :)

I am trying to get a requests list together for the hospital.  For example, two of our DON'TS requests to the hospital will be...
1. NO PACIFIERS
2. NO FORMULA

And one of our DO'S requests will be...
1. Let her breastfeed immediately after delivery

We are breastfeeding... that is why we don't want the hospital to give her either of the above items.  But, what are some other do's and don'ts that might be requested?  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated :)

My Do's and Don'ts:

1. DO put my little Mark on my belly immediately after he comes out
2. DO allow me the chance to nurse him within the first 30 minutes
3. DO give us a pacifier (My first son had one and never ever had a problem with breast feeding)
4. DO give him the newborn shots
5. DO circumcise him

1. DON'T feed Mark formula
2. DON'T take him away unless absolutely necessary

THis is a good question to ask people. It seems funny, but when I had my first I felt almost as though my son didn't quite belong to me yet. I was unsure if I could dress him in the clothes I brought, and did not have to courage to make the demands I do now.

I haven't really gotten that far just yet. Though after my shower next weekend (should be the last time I travel anywhere) I will be more on track with packing and hospital procedure requests.

Good post though. Great info. :)

Yes... I forgot to put the "not being away from us" one in there.  The hospital we chose says that they don't remove the baby from the room unless medically necessary, but I would feel better "reminding" them that that is what we would like :)  Thanks for that!!

Good post!

We have some definate DON'TS as well:
-No paci's
-No bottles
-No being away from us at all (unless emergency medical care is needed) DH or I are to  be with him at all times.

DO'S
-Immediate breastfeeding
-Wait for the cord to stop pulsating before cutting
-Leave us alone for a while after the birth, just our family of three (^_^)

We are still working on everything else as far as birth plan and what-not. I promised my dr and mother in law that we would have it all done by the end of the month as we are taking a trip to Maine to visit my grandmother, and everyone is a bit concerned that I may go early...So the hospital bag will be going to Maine with us.
