is it normal?

For the baby to arch their backs like crazy? Hayden is trying to tork her body now out of her car seat, bouncey, etc....On the changing table - all she does is MOVE and arch her back and buck her legs - what is this???

Funny you posted this becuase Noah has started doing this ALL the time, in his stroller, swing, car seat, Bumbo, and even in his bath, He will arch and his little but will come off the ledge and he will just sorta float LOL.... I think maybe it might be because they know we are putting them down... and they dont want to be strapped in! Noah doesn't like his swing anymore either...Hmmm our kiddos are getting there own little personalities! I think they do that because they want out! Too funny but I think its absolutely normal

Phin totally loves arching his back and flailing his legs around too. Mainly when he is on the floor though.

Amy... we had the same thing happen with Leighton in regards to the bouncy. Scary for sure.  It actually made me nervous to use her swing anymore because of what happened in her bouncy.  If we use her swing we only use it at dinner time where we are literally right there so if she did decide to do a contortion act, we could rescue her :)  So far she hasn't tried in her swing, but it only takes one time.  Gosh they are getting to be real movers and shakers!!

I think it is normal. Blake does it too. I think it is because they are discovering that they can move around and that they don't have to actually stay where we put them so this is their way of trying to do what they want.

Blake does this on her Bumbo too! She will sit in her bumbo and then if we walk away from her  she will do a back bend (because she is soo long) and almost flip out of her bumbo seat. It is freaky. She tried to get out of her bouncy seat and she was hanging over the side suspended because of the straps! It was scary to walk  in the room with her just hanging there!

Mark does it a lot... especially when I put him in his car seat and his swing. I think it is mainly because he HATES being strapped down into things. Maybe it is just their changing preferences (he once loved the swing and now refuses to be in it) coupled with new found strength. I don't know though- I don't think that there is anything wrong....

Leighton is doing the same thing.  I am not sure what they are trying to do, other than get out of whatever they are in!  Leighton seems to mostly do it when she is in her bumbo.  I don't know if she is over her bumbo or what.  She hates the bouncy now, but I have to put her in it when I shower :)  So, I know that is why she probably does it in her bouncy.  But, I wonder WHY they are doing it?  What is this move preparing them for, if anything?
