Is this normal?

I am 30wks pregnant and my baby is already head down and facing backwards. I am having some pains in my stomach and it tightens up realy bad, the pain hurts so bad I feel like I could throw up. I had a previous pregnancy and I went into preterm labor often and had to receive shots to stop it. I lost that baby at 29wks due to complications. This baby has no complications and is healthy, but could it be preterm labor since I already had a history of it and he seems to be in postion?

I've had the same test (I think) that dmk has had. I'm 28 weeks w/twins & have been in the hospital twice now due to threatened preterm labor. I've been on strict bedrest since 25 weeks (prior to that, it was modified bedrest). I had steroid injections & my ob does a fetal fibronectin test every two weeks now. It's done like a pap & it says whether your body is releasing a hormone (I think) that indicates you're likely to go into labor in the next two weeks.
My little boy has been head down, right at my cervix, for weeks now. I'm also 1cm dilated. I've had a lot of tightening, but it's just uncomfortable. It's not painful. If you're feeling pain & due to your history, I would definitely talk to your ob. Believe me, it'll ease your mind just to talk it over & get checked out ;) Best wishes to you!!!

I am due March 17th. My baby Weston is already head down to, and I am having to lay around ALOT! Most of the time when I get up and move around, I start having braxton hicks that turn into hard contractions (That are painful!) My doctor has checked me and said that I'm not dilating. Just to take it easy. Try laying down when you have these pain and see if that eases them!! But be sure to let your doctor know whats going on! I have to go see my doctor every 2 weeks because of it. Last time she did a test that is suppose to tell me if I will go into labor within the next 2 weeks. My came back negative. Maybe they should do that test on you. Good luck!

I would call your Ob, Def because you have had a history of preterm labor. It could be BH contractions but if it hurts that bad it could be something more....How many a day are you having??
