My high risk dr said none of the side effects were confirmed that this shot caused it, but it has been said that a % of people did have certain issues linked to this shot. Everything has side effects, just becuase they havent proven it yet doesnt mean there not there, no dr should ever say something is risk free.

Here is a link that shows all info on this shot. It still hasnt helped me make my decision yet but may help someone else who reads this thread make there decision.

As for the 10% vs 30% , Im not sure, your dr could be right, I cant be 100% on that one. I am on injection shots in my bellly every night. I have a blood disorder already, so im a different catogory then someone who does not have a disorder.
Is anyone on these shots for water breaking and not dialateing?  I have a long cervix and I do not dialate, it was my water breaking that caused me to go into early labor, and I wonder if that makes a dfference?

I dnt understand Ur doc...to b honest...I was informed nt by my doc only but by the chief of the dept that it does increase Ur chances by 30%...she told me there's no side effects...that was founded during the research shrt term& long term.... This is a hormone that Ur body naturally makes.... N during pregnancy in some women... Some how their body dnt make  enough..... So this weekly shot is to give those women whom meet those medical requirements...assist in the production of this specific hormone...it helps to elongate the length of uterus...strengthens the placenta and um umbilical cord...all these things help... Create an environment for a lengthier pregnancy.... Get a second opinion... Juss nt frm the same doc office......I think he said it Bcuz its in Ur best interest... But he's prob nt 100& on what the shots for... I'm still getting them... N they check me every 2 week's to make sure that cervix is still long n thick... N closed... They check the position of placenta...n everything's that's necessary... I wouldn't steer u wrong... But I'm def nt sure about the clotting/ thinning situation... But they prescribed me baby asprin...daily  which is to prevent the clotting its very similar

My high risk dr says it only decreases your chance of preterm labor by 10% not 30%.
I dont know if I should get these shots. My dr is not telling me I have to have them cause I only went 5 weeks early with my son. Se is giving me an option and I cant decide. She also told me ther are some risks but non that have been confirmed. Risks such as higher chance of diabeties with kids, and also still birth. I am also on a blood thinner for my blood clot disorder and progestrone is not recommened for people with my condiditon.  But then on the other hand I feel like I should be trying to prevent the perterm lbor the best I can.
I pulled my records from my sons birth, I saw that it was noted I had a short umbilical cord but i cant seem to see anything else that caused my water to break. No dialation, I had a c-section.

NOPE MY SECOND BABY.... AND my first time taking hormone shots... They say the supositories are not as effective as getting the hormone injected intermuscular....  I received my dose for last week and it was painful... Bcuz the NEW nurse after giving the injection used her knuckles n massaged the Hell out of the area!!!...uuugghh.. I'm hating her right now!!!!!!!!

I did the progesterone suppositories with my first and still had the baby early but glad I did not have to take anymore shots as I am insulin dependent while I am pregnant. If you can I would suggest this as it had no pain involved.

Yeah Im so confused on what to do, cause my high risk dr is not telling me I have to be on it, she is the one that is telling me its only a 10% reduction in risk.  Plus I have a blood disorder and I am on lovenox already so that has me concerned. Im so worried I will make the wrong choice and she wont lean towards a answer for me, she said I have to make that decision. :o(

Hey missy!!... To b honest... I was very weary about the  shots until I realized that more ppl are receptive to them than we thought... I juss found out today that three of the receptionists at the docz office.. have taken them... Everyone has different feed back in regards to pain... Wen I asked them...one said due to her petite size she thought it was painful... About a 6 on the pain scale(1-10 ...1=the least &10 is excruciating pain) the second representative said it was ok like a 4. Lastly the third rep said she wanted to jump off the table every week...lol she was a funny one!.. but all in all my experience honestly it  hurt the first shot about a 6/7 bcuz mentally I recited to my self that I would b in Hell of pain and moved while getting the injection lol!!!...its funny Now... But in all actuality it truly wasn't bad.... Wat does have some pain was the after effect... At the injection site...which is explained to b due to the thickness of the meds being injected into the skin at a swift rate through a small syringe... N it having to dislve intermusclerly

Yes my dr wants me on them seeing i had my son over 8 years ago at 35 weeks. My dr told me that it only revents it about 10 percent more then not taking them, thats not alot to me but i guess it cant hurt. Im not looking forward to it, I will tell you that much.  I heard they hurt. I already take lovenox shots in my belly each day.  Seeing is your on them how are they, painful?

Yes, progesterone shots... They are "supposedly" proven to prolong pregnancy to help prevent pre term labor... I'be been taking them since the beginning of 16weeks.. that's wen they told me to start. But its typically between16-18weekz to began... The earlier the better... Do YOU PLAN ON TAKING THE SHOTS??????
