I got the flu shot (and do every year). Haven't gotten the flu, but at my last appt, my dr said if I have a temp over 100.4 that I should come in and get checked for the flu right away...if it is, then they can give tamiflu to help with the worst of the symptoms...help keep the fever in check.
I refuse to do the flu shot but might be considering the TDAP since the only side effects are a slight fever for me. Anyone else get it?
I got the flu shot as fevers can cause brain damage to baby! I keep reading though that the flu shot this year isnt effective to the strains that are making everyone sick right now... so never hurts to call the dr to see what they want you to do. Better to be safe than sorry!
It never hurts to call your Dr's office and find out. I had the flu shot and felt bad for a couple of days, but it went away. (I'm 28 wks pregnant.) Last night I was in the ER w/ 101 fever. (The on-call Obgyn recommend I come in ). I was diagnosed with Influenza A (flu) & luckily was given Tamaflu, so hopefully I will come around.
My Obgyn said that she'd rather have me call for 100 false alarms (or things I thought were borderline important) than to not have me call when I should have.
Your provider is there for you, so please utilize him/her. I hope you feel better soon, mama.
