Anyone else questioning about getting the flu shot this year? I know it's suppose to be safe in all trimesters but I cant help but to be a little hesitant...

I just got mine early this week and I got a cold right after but the same thing happened the last time I got the flu shot, and I'd much rather deal with a mild cold than a full blown flu.. I get the flu every year if I don't get the shot.

I have never had the flu nor received the flu shot.  But at the beginning of 2nd trimester the dr strongly urge I get one b/c she sd she has 2 mothers and 2 babies die as a result of getting the flu/H1N1.  I took the shot reluctantly and it didn't make me sick and I actually came in contact w/ a customer of mine who had the flu and I haven't been sick, thank God! I'll never get it again unless I'm ever pregnant again,  I just took it this time as a preventive measure. I can't imagine myself or my precious baby dying of flu.  To each their own tho  :)

I'm nervous too get mine done too, but with my already shoddy immune system getting even worse with pregnancy, I'm leaning more towards the 'yeah, might as well'. Getting mine at my next appointment.

Don't believe in getting vaccines/meds during pregnancy.... I declined mine for good. I did not have one with my other child and will not get one with this one.... Years ago vaccines were not recommended for pregnant woman and now they do, even without much studies. I believe everyone is different, some babies can be ok if the mom gets the vaccine while pregnant but I also believe some other can develope neurological problems.... That's my opinion and of course everyone has one, but I will opt to not get any vaccines while pregnant

I I don't ever get sick and I have never had the flu shot. That's not changing this year. As long as you stay healthy and just be a little bit more of a gem freak with washing your hands and stuff you should be fine.

My doc hasn't said anything in either respect. But the one time I got it (about 6 years ago) I was horribly sick for 2 weeks. I know they're better now, but I'm still leery. But.. I hardly ever get sick. I get colds once or twice year,  but nothing worse than that. The last time I had the flu was over 10 years ago. I will discuss with doc though. I will probably get it if he says to, after much discussion.

I am very nervous about getting the shot. I have never had one before, and only had the flu once when I was very little. My step dad is a RN and told me I can refuse if I want to, since his opinion on the shot is not 100% positive. He got it for the first time about 5 years ago never having the flu before and ended up getting the H1N1 virus. Anyone else contemplating not getting it??

I got it with my last and will again with this one. One of the greatest benifits is if you breastfeed the baby will get the antibodies as well.

My doctor told me the strain of flu coming back this year is the H1N1, which is the swine flu that was very deadly back in 2009. Getting the flu during pregnancy is worse due to dehydration and other complications. I would definately recommend getting the shot!

I got it... every year I've gotten it I've been healthy.  Before I started getting the shot I ended up with weeks of illness every year and usually bronchitis or pneumonia on top of it. I've heard stories both ways though.

Get it.  If you've ever had the flu you definitely wouldn't question it.  Influenza can kill you.

I went to the Dr on Friday...she recommended I get one. A certain one though. Something to do with the mercury.
