Glucose Results............

So you ladies know that I work in the hospital where I'm going to give birth, so therefore I can look at my own test results.  Well I had my Glucose challenge this morning and the test came as 138mg/dl (without having nothing to eat prior to the test).  I called my doctor right away, but I left him a message....

From doing some research online, I see my number is too high!!! What do you guys think??? Please help, I don't want to have GD!!

Well, my test was at 9:00am so the nurse told me not to have any breakfast, but then when I drank the stuff I still had to wait an hour before i was able to eat anything.  They drew my blood an hour right after I drank it.  But with my first daughter they never told me don't eat anything and it came back high, so I had to do the 3 hour test and I pass that one.  I'm almost 26 weeks, but some doctors do it at a later time or earlier.  It varies with each doctor.

I also know nothing about what numbers to expect, but i am really sorry that you may be having issue with GD.  Just try not to worry too much about it until you talk to your doctor.  You are in my thoughts and please keep us updated!!!

By the way, my OB never said anything about fasting before i do my test, is this usually how it is done though.  If so, how long should it be before i take the test?

Jen, I have no ideas about the numbers, but I do know that if you do have it's easily controllable and will be gone once you have the baby which isn't that far away now.  My husband has diabetes and it doesn't interfere with his life at all, he still has something sweet when he wants it... it's all about moderation!  Please, don't panic until you speak to the doc because you won't know what is too high until he tells you one way or the other.

Good luck!!
