wow i'll keep that in mind! i might ask my mum actally she might know more! and i see my midwife on 23rd so i'll ask her does seem strange we dont get the test! prob because they dont want to pay out lol! as everythings on the NHS!
I never heard that either, my sil was on the line of having GD and she is not overweight. In canada they make us do it as well.
I will be getting my results next thursday at my next appointment, i think i will also be getting my rh shot. I hate needles!!
That is kinda crazy??? Gestational diabetes dosen't just affect heavy pregnant women? Well Claire just so you know if you have increased thirst, numbness in your hands or you get shakey if you havn't eaten keep an eye on your sugar.
My mom was very thin, size 5 when she got pregnant, and she developed GD. So skinny girls are also at risk, also if you have family history it increases your chances. Everyone in the states has to do it.
~YAY~ mine turned out well, one less thing to worry about, My BMI if tested would have been WAY over 30! LOL
oh i see! i never knew that! my bmi was 24 i think when i first had it done at 8weeks.
Claire, they only do them over here if your bmi is over 30, it's there polite way of telling you your fat and a health risk. So, your midwife won't suggest it if she knows your not overweight! Saying that, slim people get it too, but they seem to blame everything on us fatties!!
my midwife hasnt even mentioned the glucose test lol! idont see her till 23rd tho!
hope all goes well for you too tarrah, let us know!!
good luck on the glucose test mandi mine is friday lol and love the pics can't wait for my 4d :)
thanks claire, manchester is not that far, I'll look into that!! Kiki, nine weeks, wish I could say the same! Next thing now is glucose test next week... hopefully all will be well!!
kylesmom- do it!! thats all i can say, even my hubby was like everyone should do this. I think that we both feel so much closer to her now and are so much more excited for her arrival. its very special.
mandy- they do have one in manchester and birmingham if thats any closer?
I think you all have made me decide to tryo to get in and get a 4d done....It seems like you all have had such an amazing expirience with it!!!!
Kiki- That is so crazy to hear that you only have 9 weeks left....It really is getting down to crunch time!!
Addy was being a stinker in hers as well! I am very fortunate though , where I am seeing a perinatologist my U/S can all be 4d. So even though she was a booger last one I go back 3/2 so hopefully she will smile for the camera! AND the best part is my insurance covers it, they will do a dvd as well, it's like 2.00 if you don't bring in your own. We still had planned on going back to the baby spa b/c we have a 50% off coupon but not sure if we are gonna be able to make the time! We are getting down to crunch time! I only have 9 more weeks!!!!!!!!
I live in Merseyside Claire, so a bit far for me, although it would be a great great day out!! I had travel to get to the 3d scan place too, but honestly Claire, it was just lovely and I was crying by the end of it, even though my images weren't that good because she wasn't cooperating. If you have the time get it done, it's something lovely to keep for your child.
£90 is a bargain! i expected it to be more! were still decideing whether to have one done, just having the time because there isnt one local to us it about an hour or so away!
Mandy38- have yopu ever been to the baby show in london? weve got tickets for feb 27th im so excited! ive heard there really good!
Thanks ladies for all the lovely comments, it really was a lovely experience and my husband had a great day. The baby looks just like my other children, I can tell that already!! Any of you who have not had it done, it's worth every penny, even in the credit crunch!!
claire- we paid $200 canadian......i think thats about 100 pounds. I dont have that thing on my key board!!
we got an hour of veiwing, 4 pictures, a cd with 119 pics and a half hour dvd. i think they gave us a bit extra since we went twice, they didnt charge us for the 2nd time though. I highly recommend it!!
Have now uploaded best of the photos, well 3!!
Well it was brilliant... baby was uncooperative but we managed to get some good shots of her face, she's gorgeous. She is currently 2 pound 7 ounces, has really long legs for age and has a due date now of may 7th. sonographer said she is now lying head down so she has turned from transverse and she is perfect!! Thank God.
good luck mandy can't wait to see pics.
Hi just on my way in a bit!! My scan is 15 minutes with 4 glossy photos, a cd rom of all the pics and a 5 min dvd to music for £90, so sounds like a good deal and thanks HKenny, the lady told me about the full stomach, so I'll get some lunch on the way!!
how long do the 4d scans last for?
she recorded out babies heartbeat as well, its on our dvd. I would suggest eating before going in, the coke they told me to drink did nothing but a full belly made her move around!! cant wait to see the pictures!!
thanks kiki, I will report in when I get back...
